If you are in Chennai, u can directly visit any PSK. it will be done in max of 2 - 3 hrs.

I am actually in Toronto. Going to Chennai for vacation. Heard that can get PCC directly from india itself. that is why thought of availing an agent to avoid risks. (but I wanna know whether there is any risk factor in the process )

You will have to book an appointment first and then Visit Passport office. Sometimes you may have to visit twice (Depends on when your passport or last PCC was issued).

It seems they have mandated appointments for PCC, it was not so when i went. sorry for that wrong info .

Regarding agents, they can just help you get appointments. If you can book appointments, its well and good .

It can be done in 2 to3hrs with appointment. I got it last month in Hyderabad
