PCC from PSK in India

Hi everyone,
Got a question. I have my appointment with PSK for next week to do my PCC in India.I got a couple of questions.

1. Can I get two copies of PCC, as i am a CEC applicant and planning to do my PNP as well.

2. Within how many hours does the PCC get issued? Do I need to wait in the PSK itself to get it as soon as its ready?

3. Is it safe to send the PCC original to my lawyer in Canada through FEDEX to send it to CIC?

4. My address is not changed, do I need to still carry any other additional documents for address proof? Since I live in Canada, I dont have any other address proof other than my bank passbook.

I think They will provide just one copy.. Just ask them if they can provide one more copy paying extra.
If your current address as same as your permanent address which is on your passport then you will get your PCC immediately with in there itself.
As your have to submit the original copy anyway.. you can send it through any of well known international courier so that you can track it.
If your current address and address on your Passport are same then there is no need of any additional address proofs.

Please take a copy of work permit/e-mail from cic asking for police clearance certificate. They've asked me after going in, luckily I had work permit copy, so I gave that. They will give it right away. I've send it directly to cic from India. And cic acknowledged its receipt.

Can I just print the document checklist from CEC in that case along with my WorkPermit copy as proof I need to submit?

Please take a copy of work permit/e-mail from cic asking for police clearance certificate. They've asked me after going in, luckily I had work permit copy, so I gave that. They will give it right away. I've send it directly to cic from India. And cic acknowledged its receipt.

I think that should work. they didn't even check what is on my workpermit(mine was expired by then).

If the Passport office already has your Police Verification Report (which they would have got during passport issue/renewal) then the PSK issues the PCC immediately over the counter. If they do not have this verification report, then upon your PCC request, a request for Police Verification Report by the Passport Office is sent to your local Police Station. You will then need to follow up with the police station. On verification completion, the police sends the report to the passport office and you will get a notification fromt he PSK to come and collect the PCC. Note that the second process is the same as the regular police verification that happens when you apply for a fresh passport. The process took me about a month. This depends on the efficiency of your police station. Ideally it should take less. So if you are in India on vacation then you might want to act accordingly.

3. Is it safe to send the PCC original to my lawyer in Canada through FEDEX to send it to CIC? Yes, absolutely

4. My address is not changed, do I need to still carry any other additional documents for address proof? Since I live in Canada, I dont have any other address proof other than my bank passbook. No. You do not need to carry any address proof for PCC request.

Please note that my responses are based on my experience is procuring the PCC. The best idea would be to call or visit the PSK during Enquiry hours and get information first hand.
The standard process is to go to the passport india website and browse to the 'Police Clearance Certificate' page and fill the PCC application form. Once done you get an Application Reference no. (ARN) and you can print out the page detailing your PCC application request and your ARN. You need to take this along with original passport, a copy of your passport and a fee payment receipt (after paying the INR 500 fee online) or you may pay in cash. Before you visit the PSK with these documents, you can take an appointment or you may be allowed a walk in (my PSK allowed for walk ins during a specific time each day for PCC applications).

There is no need of any letter/any confirmation for the immigration. Thye just ask for which country you are applying thats it. If you apply in commisionarate office then they will ask for the immigration latter in that case AOR email is enough.
I am able to give this info because I have inquired both going personally. And i finally decided to apply through PSK instead of commissionerate as has some long process.

1. I think they will give you two copies of PCC by default. I got two even though I didn't request for any additional copies.
2. If your current address is the same as your address on PCC and there is a formal verification record available from the time of issuance of your passport, then you should get it within the same day. However, in some cases the verification report from when the passport is issued is not maintained (may be due to system migrations/upgrade), then you have to go through the entire process which may take from a week to 15 days. I have seen such cases while applying for mine. In that case it depends on how soon the police call you in for a verification and how soon they send it back to PSK.
3. I am not sure how it works with a lawyer, but, sending simple documents like PCC can directly go to CIC.

I visited PSK Chennai but looks like they dont have a PCC record on my file (or lost it) so they asked me to do a re-verification again. I had completed the procedures with local police station last week and waiting for the SMS to go collect my PCC in PSK.

Now my question is there a specific time period of the day I have to go to collect PCC? For example from 10 AM to 1 PM or 2 PM to 4 PM? or is it anytime btw their working hours?

Yes.. for PCC 9 to 11 AM... I came to know this when I went to collect my PCC but the location is Hyderabad PSK.
You can got the regional Passport office also to collect PCC, it doesn't have any specific timings to collect.
