PCC from India- Procedure?

Hello All
I am applying for PR under Ontario PNP category. I am currently in India for holidays at the moment and I thought may be I should get my Indian PCC while I am here instead of waiting to go back to Toronto and applying from there.
But, I am getting different answers regarding the procedure to get PCC from the Passport office. Some are saying that they will issue you a PCC on the same day, while others are saying that they will forward your request to your local Police station and then they will do an enquiry (just like in case of passport application) by coming to your house and asking for neighbours' references. So what's the truth?

Hi, thanks for your response. Could you please tell me when was your passport issued? Because I have also heard that if your passport was issued within last 2 years, then they do it on the same day otherwise they send it to your local police station.

Yes old passports it will take time to issue pcc.

So, I went to the Passport office in Delhi to get a police clearance certificate WITHOUT a prior appointment. Nobody objected to me not having booked appointment even though it was very busy with many people there. My passport was issued in 2006, but I got my PCC issued the same day within couple of hours. May be this convenience is just for Delhi residents but it worked out well for me!
Tip: You just need to give them a copy of your passport and a copy of your address proof, and even if you have changed your address, no need to mention it because they have no way of checking it. Make sure you carry your original passport as well.

P.S.- I initially went to the RPO at Bhikaji Cama Place, but apparently that office doesn't issue PCC. So then I went to the one at ITO. Your other options for PCC in Delhi are Shalimar Bagh and Gurgaon.

When you say "address proof" what did you show? Did you mention your Toronto address at all, or just give your Delhi address? What recent proof did you have?

My issue is that I moved from Bangalore 2 years back, and do not have any recent address proof to show of that address, as that was just a rental...

In Chennai they did not ask for address proof. Only we need to go with our original passport and PCC fees. New passports they have PCC on the same day. Since my passport is old, I waited upto one month. After police verification I got PCC.

Quick question; so when you went to the ITO office did you go there after making the payment online or did you pay at the ITO office? I hope you can please answer quickly, I plan to visit there tomorrow. Thanks a lot.
