Hi, can we get PCC through someone in India on our behalf if we are in India? I mean, of course assuming we know someone who can do this for us. Or, should we only get this from Indian Consulate here?

If you are in India, you can get it from Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).

If you are outside India, get it from Indian Consulate. Here means where?

If you are in Canada I have heard that you can get it done through BLS, Toronto. You can look up the same online.

Yes i know we can get it done in Canada through embassy but I wanted to know if we can get from India directly on my behalf if I know someone who can do this for me. This way, I can save lot of money ;)

I guess you can, but I am not sure of the procedure.

Q27: Do I need to be personally present for Police Verification?
A: Yes, it would be advisable that you should be physically present at the time of Police Verification.

This is from their FAQ section.. it says 'advisable' so I guess you can call them to confirm if such a procedure is possible.

You can get the PCC from Indian District Police station.
Just send your relative or family member to get the PCC on behalf of you and it will be given to them with signed SSP signature right away.

I did the same when I applied for my PR and I'm a PR now.

In addition to what harman said, I'd also like to point out the following:

Please get a separate PCC from the district police station for every Indian address you've mentioned in your address history. Also, make sure your PCCs cover your entire stay in India (since the age of 18).

This is very important. People here have had their applications refused because their district PCCs didn't cover their entire stay in India.

I would suggest you get it from canada through embassy. Why risk your application. There have been cases of rejection due to incorrect PCC.

Three things.

1. It's not lot of money, it's 75$ for entire application including mail to your address.
2. To get PCC done from India is possible but difficult, and you need to get from Passport office not from local police station. Beside most office and passport center will ask to be there physically now a days.
3. If you get it from India while you and your passport are in Canada, you won't get stamp on your passport for the day PCC was given to you. This might cause issue when you scan passport and submit PCC. Because CIC can check the dates of PCC and easily figure out that you haven't got that PCC in a right way.
