PCC for India

Hi All,

I have some basic questions related to PCC.

I am living in other state in India (Maharshtra) and my PSK is in other state (Himachal Pradesh). there are some amendmenets required in my passport for details related to family members and address. I am planing to travel to PSK in Himachal Pradesh, this June month for correction in passport. I have some questions like:

1. Do I need to travel to Himachal Pradesh again for PCC after getting my ITA or can I apply from any PSK in maharashtra (from PSK in pune).
2. what is the validity of PCC, as I am afraid if I will take PCC now, it will get expired at the time of applying for EE (as I am still expecting my IELTS results to be declared and date is 22 May)'

Hi ,

You may get the PCC from wherever you are residing in India. Here is how: http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/pccOnlineApp

Validity is 6 months but CIC is recently only accepting PCC's which are not less than 3 months old. Don't worry, wait for the ITA, PCC should not take more than 3 weeks and you have 60 days after ITA

Yes , from anywhere you are residing. Should ideally take 3 to 4 weeks in all. Will help if know someone at the police station of your jurisdiction

Anybody has any idea, what docs do we need to submit for PCC in passport seva kendra in india?

do we need to give any address proof as well or only passport is sufficient for PCC ??

Hi!

They have a list of documents that you need to take along with you. Especially if your passport is from outside the state that you are applying in. As I can see that is your case, they require your rent agreement or phone bill IN YOUR NAME. If your name does not appear on it, don;t bother going they will turn you away. Also, in case of a phone or electricity bill, they will need to see one bill that was generated this year and a bill that was generated last year. There are other documents that you could take but I believe that these would be the ones that are readily available to you.

Again, with Pune PSK, its a case by case basis. I still haven't gotten my PCC and I applied a loooong time ago. I hear sometimes they are pretty quick though, so....

i am in canada but my parents were able to get my PCC from punjab for me. cos as i heard it was a different procedure listed on cic website for punjab pcc's

If you are in Pune from last 1 year, you should go to PSK of PUNE even for your changes in passport and not HP.

Well that depends on a lot of factors. I have gone past the 60 days mark for my PCC, I applied for it on the 20th of April. That said, I am expecting it any day now. I would recommend getting started on it anyway, atleast make sure that you have the documents ready. Go through the list of acceptable documents carefully and make sure that you have the exact ones mentioned. You will be directly turned away if you do not have them.

Can anyone confirm if a PCC issued by Regional Passport Office will work?

I ask bcoz this page -->http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp mentions only "District Police Station" and does not mention RPO.
