How long is my police clearance certificate valid?

Your police clearance certificate is valid for a period of one year from the date it was issued. If the validity has expired before your visa is issued you will be requested to provide an updated police certificate from the country you are currently living in. If you have already submitted police certificates from other countries where you have not recently lived you will not have to provide an update.

Dear kash0081,

Your understanding is correct, PCC is valid for three months from the date of issue, that's how CIC mentioned in there official site, it’s always better to research in CIC sites before hand.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

Please refer to link for detailed information at CIC website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

Further, in your case CIC may ask you to submit fresh PCC as additional document request and as routine procedure will definitely ask for updated PCC before PR visa issuance

All the best

Dear BobbyB,

Thank you for your note

Can you please put CIC web site link in this caption topic which mention "PCC valid of one year and three month updated PCC requirement after expiry on intinal one year"? It would be very interest to know such micro level information about PCC validity from CIC's view point

I am soon leaving the UAE and have been asked for RPRF payments and have already sent my medicals last week. Question: Will CIC again ask me for a Police Clearance Certificate for UAE before issuance of the PR visa? Or the one that I already submitted enough? I just want to pre-empt any delay in processing due to this.
App Filed at Local Canadian Visa Office: 02 Feb 2009
Initial Assessment Received: 25 May 2009 Documents Requested: 16 Feb 2009
Documents Sent: 16 Mar 2009 Medicals Requested: 25 May 2009
Medicals Done: 11 Jun 2009 Medicals Sent: 11 Jun 2009
Visa office: London.

Any views?

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

If the original certificate is neither in English nor in French, submit both the certificate and the original copy of a translation prepared by an accredited translator with your application.
