pcc exemption

Hi All

Just had my MEP and BIL received.
I had also a request to submit Original PCC from the country I was not able to obtain one. In my application I have attached LOE with Embassy email and my employer'e email. So I did not attach PCC for a given country.

I wonder, if IRCC is not satisfied with my LOE and still requesting PCC or its just standard process to request PCC at this stage if its missing? If its latter, should I just attach the same LOE again?

When do I know if pcc exemption was given or not?

There is no exemption from getting a PCC, according to IRCC website. It must be submitted in whatever format deemed verifiable by them. You should try to get it to avoid your application being turned down. If your nearest embassy can't serve you , then try to get it through a friend or a family member at that country whom may apply on your behalf or try to speak to the embassy staff directly and see if there any other way to get it.

The only real PCC exemption is when it's literally impossible to get it. Say you lived in Iraq while it was still a functional country, before the war. It is now literally impossible to get a PCC from Iraq because of the issues they've had.

If you don't fall into that exception (and you probably don't) then you will have to get the PCC.

Iraq is the country I am not able to get PCC. I even hired lawyer who made attempts to get a PCC on my behalf but unsuccessful.

I had meeting with Iraqi Consul recently, and she basically said it is impossible to get PCC from Iraq due to current situation etc.
Though she suggested that she can write an formal written letter on behalf of Embassy. It will not be PCC but a official letter. I am not sure what she has to mentioned in that letter...

Hi, Is your PR application approved? I was living in Iran and collected PCC 5 days before leaving the country. Now I'm worried that my application will not be accepted as the issue date was before leaving the country. Kindly share in details.

You need to fix this asap. Your PCC doesn't meet the requirements and you should expect your application will be refused because your application is incomplete. Hi, thanks for your reply. I've already checked all these. The link describes the procedure for Iranians living outside Iran. For non-Iranians, it just says to contact the nearby Iranian embassy which I did but failed to get an updated PCC. However, I'm trying to get the PCC in other ways.

What happened when you contacted them? Do you have a record of them refusing to help such as an email?

I can tell you that it is possible to get an exemption on a PCC. But you must have hard proof that you cannot obtain the PCC and you would want to submit that evidence with your application. You want to show that you have tried multiple angles to obtain the PCC and that they have all failed. You want to provide evidence of this such as emails where an embassy or consulate has told you they cannot help you or what you are trying to do is impossible.

Try to do as much as you can via email so that you have evidence of what you've tried and what has failed. Good luck.

Yes, my husband got an exemption. The circumstances were that he worked in Kuwait before the war for a few years and all of the police records were destroyed in the war - so it was impossible to get a PCC because they had no record of him ever having been there.

We provided the following evidence to get the exemption:
- email exchanges with the Kuwait embassy / consulate in Canada confirming the PCC could not be obtained
- email exchanges with the Kuwait embassy / consulate in the US (my husband is originally American)
- email exchanges with the Canadian and US embassies / consulates in Kuwait
- print outs from a US government website stating that it's impossible to get a PCC for Kuwait for the period my husband was there
- LOE summarizing everything we tried to do to get the PCC with a list of the evidence we were providing and a statement by my husband that he had a clean record while he was there. Also evidence that he was there under a US government contract and that he would have been immediately sent home should there have been any issue.

I'm only aware of the details of my husband's case.
