Hello Seniors.
I am in a fix. I am planning to send my documents to Buffalo , Visa office on Monday June 7 2010. But my FBI card was issued on October 21,2009 and PCC from Texas on 7 July 2009. I believe these certificates are valid for six-months, if I am not mistaken. What is the right step for me? Should I send my application now and not miss the 120 day deadline(June 17, 2010) with these certificates or should I apply for the cards again and apply with them?? Please help I think I am in a tight situation. What should be the best step??

Thanks in Advance

I realized that in fact the certificates should not be issued more than 3 months prior to the submission of the application. What should I do now?? I got an email from Central Intake Office with AOR on March 17th.. :( :(

Yes, But even then it is really close to get new PCC and FBI card. Because last time they took around 40 days to send me my cards after I sent them the Fingerprints and getting fingerprints itself takes around one week. So what should I do?? Is there a way that I can request FBI and my Texas DPS to send me my NEW clearance certificate without sending them my fingerprints because they might have it in their database and this may save me time..

Please reply what is the best option.
1. send my application with the old PCC and FBI certificates to Visa office
2. to try waiting and getting new one issued and then send the completed application which is a very close call??

hi dblooos
keep at least a week in ur hand(before 120 elapsed),
if u ll not get 2nd one,go without that,
and, write a letter to ur CHC explaining the issue,
as soon as u ll get ur PCC,send it.
at the best

I agree with Katoky.

It makes sense to send what you have while you initiate the process of getting an updated clearance/card. The 120 days rule is real and no extension is given. However, I know a few guys who send what they have within the 120 days with explanatory note and thereafter update their applications with whatever new information they have. I believe this is acceptable.

Thanks for your prompt replies.. Do you have any idea about the implications of sending the file with expired PCC and FBI card. Would it unduly delay the processing time for my application?? How long it takes to process the application with these kind of aberrations?? Do you have any idea whether I can get the PCC and FBI card re-issued without going through finger-printing again as it will save me good 10-15 days?

No doubt, unless your new updates get in real quick, you should normally expect further delays to your application processing. But here's what you should do:

Initiate the process of getting an updated clearance/card AND SUBMIT THE EVIDENCE of the new application with your full documents. Then add a note to explain you did not realize the former certificates would not be tenable any longer hence your action. Then let them know you will provide the new documents immediately you have it but you need to submit evidence that you already initiated the update.

As per whether you need new fingerprints, I think the relevant agencies are the best to talk to. I'll suggest you talk to them, it does NOT hurt and you're surer of a correct response. May I just add that you inquire from them if its acceptable for you to submit prepaid courier vouchers with your new application so that your documents could be shipped to you with high priority. That is if there is no existing process for that kind of request.

Best!

Thanks Goldenapple,
It makes sense to me to ask the right authority itself. Hopefully, there exist a way out. In case they say that I have to start the entire fingerprinting procedure from scratch, what should I do? Should I wait till the 5-7 days before my deadline July17 2010 to submit documnets to Visa Office, or Should I send them the application with evidence of initiation of the process of re-issuance of PCC and FBI certificate? Please respond what would be the best step in the given situation.

Thanks in Advance.
Waiting for your quick response...

I feel 5-7 days before end of your 120days is too neck to neck. I'm personally not comfortable with that. If I were you I wouldn't do that. Two weeks is safer if you see what I mean. And you may be lucky that FBI and co will deliver before the end of the month. Whichever way, initiate the new process now - fast tracked if possible!

Seniors,

One more critical question? When we apply for the FBI card they ask you to mention a reason/date that requires expeditious handling. Would it help if I mention it there that I need it within next 15-20 days. The usual time for them to process is 6-8 weeks do they process it faster if we mention an early date there?? What is the shortest possible time to process it, any clues??
Please reply, I am trying my best to send it at the earliest.

Thanks in Advance

Lets see
I dont think they care abt what you write on the form. It does take few months. I would recommend you send the application with expired PCC and apply a new one. If visa office asks for a new one you will be a position to submit immediately. I think they might not even ask for updated copy. BTW when you apply for PCC, enclose the copy of expired one, might expidiate it.

Thanks a lot for the input. I will do that, hopefully copy of the form would expedite the process.

Seniors,
When I send my application to Visa Office, should I explain the reason as to why I am not sending the most recent and rather an expired one. Or should I just apply normally without any explanation as they might overlook the fact that PCC is expired..What should be the approach??

It depends on the date that your INITIAL APPLICATION was received at CIO-Sydney - that is the "lock in" date. PCCs are valid for 3 months prior to submitting your initial application. The date received by CIO should be indicated on the AOR your received with your file number.

You don't need the Texas PCC, but you can submit it anyway. If they want an updated PCC from Texas, they will request it.

See p. 20 of the instruction guide:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

"You may begin to gather your police certificates before submitting your application to the CIO. Although you will not submit the police certificate to the CIO, you must be ready to submit them to a visa office if your application is recommended for further assessment at a Canadian visa office. When you submit the application to the visa office please ensure that your certificates were not issued more than three months before you submitted your application to the CIO."
