I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my wife who's living abroad. I want to pay my fees online since it's faster, but I'm starting to get a little confused as to which category to pick.

Once I get to the online payment page, they say that I need to complete my application online before paying, and then they give me two links: "citizenship" and "immigration". So I picked immigration, and they gave me another list of links, among those are "Family Class" and "Spouse and Common-Law Partner in Canada Class". I thought both were the same thing? Which one do I pick?

If you applying out side canada and no dependant this is the fee that you need to pay online its under family class
1. Sponsorship application $75
2. Principal applicant $475
3. Right of permanent residence fee $490

Ok so this is what I did:

Sponsorship application (per application)
1
$75.00

Principal applicant
1
$475.00

Principal applicant who is under 19 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship
0
$75.00

Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner of the principal applicant, or where a transitional provision applies, a family member of the principal applicant who is 22 years of age or older
0
$550.00

Family member of the principal applicant who is under 19 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship OR is 19 years of age or older who has been unable to be financially self-supporting since before the age of 19 due to a physical or mental condition
0
$150.00

Fee subject to a transitional provision - Family member of the principal applicant who is under 22 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship OR is 22 years of age or older who is unable to be financially self-supporting due to physical or mental condition
0
$150.00

Right of Permanent Residence Fee
1
$490.00

Total: $1040.00

Yes $1040 is the total if there is no dependant.

If you are applying inland go to spouse and common-law partner in canada class section.
