Pilot project to confirm selected in-Canada permanent residents by telephone
Ottawa, December 1, 2017— In an effort to provide better client service, IRCC is testing a new method to confirm permanent residence (PR) by telephone.

Once a PR application has been approved, selected clients, who are already in Canada, will be sent an email from an address ending in “@cic.gc.ca” or a message through their IRCC online accounts inviting them to be confirmed as a permanent resident by telephone.

Clients who proceed with a telephone interview will then have their confirmation of PR either mailed to them or uploaded in their IRCC online account.

The benefit of this pilot project is that clients who are already in Canada do not have to travel to an IRCC office or leave and re-enter Canada in order to be confirmed as a PR, potentially saving clients both time and money.

Clients cannot request to be included in this pilot project, however, depending on the success of the pilot project, IRCC will determine if this should become part of the normal process for all clients.

Some questions on the overall experience may be asked to those who participated and the answers provided will help determine if the pilot was successful. This will not influence the outcome of the client’s confirmation of PR.

Hey!
From what I have been able to gather on this page and my neighbour's friend who recently did his landing, I was told it is best to go to an alternative border to the Niagara border - one is the Fort-Erie-Buffalo border. Someone who had to go to the Fort Erie border from the one at Niagara also confirms there efficiency and flexibility to people doing their landing.
By the way, is their anyone here who is willing to share a ride the border from Toronto/Mississauga area? I'm looking at going between Wednesday and Friday.

Yes even I am also pretty certain that Rainbow bridge is a big NO NO right now. Then for us residing in the GTA we either have the Fort Erie border or the 1000 Islands one.
Have heard and also read posts in this forum that the 1000 islands border allows you to flagpole with a car even if you do not have a US visa. Not sure about Fort Erie.

Yes, you're very right. Not sure about the last sentence too.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi guys, I am about to submit passports and have 2 questions if you don't mind.

1. How do you submit heigh and eye color info? Does it have to be typed and printed in a simple a4? no signature or anything?
2. My daughters passport was valid only a few months so we renewed the passport and the old one is no longer valid. Do we just send the new one without any further explanation? Or do I need to explain that the old one was expiring and we renewed?

Thanks

For the first point,

You don't need to send eye color/info while sending passports. You already gave them this information while submitting your PR application.

For the second point,

I'm not sure but you can confirm this with CIC by sending an email to the email address given on the PPR email that you received from them.

All the best for your COPR.

Hello Everyone,

I got my passport back from CPC-Ottawa yesterday and completed my landing procedure at Boundary Bay Border, Delta,BC.

Here is my timeline from receipt of PPR email,

PPR email - February 12th, 2018
Passport sent to CPC-OTTAWA - February 19th, 2018
Received Passport back with COPR - February 26th, 2018
Completed Landing procedure - February 26th, 2018.

My experience at Boundary Bay Border was good. I reached there at 8:30 pm. There were not many people, so the whole procedure finished in less than half hour. US border officers were really friendly, my flagpolling procedure completed in 5 mins and they gave me a white paper with flagpolling mentioned. I took that paper at Canada border crossing and got a yellow declaration slip from officer at the gate who asked me to go in the adjacent CBSA office. There were few people ahead of me but still my turn came in less than 10 mins. The immigration officer asked me about the conditions mentioned on COPR, "if I have committed any crime or denied entry in any country before including Canada", my answer was no . He took signature on the two COPR copies that came with passport, asked for my passport and current work permit, & told me to wait for few mins. He called me back after 10 mins, explained my obligations of being a PR in Canada & also gave a leaflet for the same. I got my passport back with attached COPR copy. The officer told me that PR card would be delivered to my given address in 2 months and I'm good to go.

Thanks to this forum and all the members for their help.

Please feel free to ask any questions, if needed.

All the best everyone for their COPR and landing procedure

Got my Counterfoil numbers updated in the site. Also my application status says it has been approved.
Question: I see 2 Counterfoil numbers for myself and spouse.. Also have a expiry date as Jan 17th 2019.. What does this number and expiry date signify?
