baat ye hai ke the day I reached here I was dead tired...........seriously 14 hrs journey is like hell...........aap kuch karne k qabil nahi rehte. 2 din tak to thakan utaarney mai lag jate hain.

the place im residing is out of internet access due to some maintenance goin on in line. by Monday it will be resotred. I just opened a bank account here yesterday and on Monday will buy sim.

just to give u guys small updates.

on airport the checking in tight.......I mean luggage wise. on 23 kg bags the emirates are accepting upto 24 kg.....means just 1 kg margin. or can say 1.2 kg max. on excess baggage they are not offering even 1 kg............it should be max 32.4 kg.......not more than that.

if u guys have someone in FIA then take their help. mere sath hua ye

out of 6 bags of 23 kg...........2 were over weight to 32 kg..........means 4 bags to 23 ke thay..........baqi 2 32 k thay.....so for those extra 9 kg I was required to pay 50 dollars US per bag......total 18 kg extra ke 100 dollars.

baqi excess luggage mai out of 4 bags.....2 bags 34 kg k thay.........means 2 kg extra.

to mera total 20 21 kg ziada weight tha. but mere ek friend ka dost FIA mai hai. I took his help. usne mere luggage ka weight he nahi hone dia..........actually mai 4 hrs pehle airport pohoncha...us se mila....he made all settings with emirates guy at counter. then jab counter open hua mera aik bhi luggage weight nahi hua...........he just issued me baggage slips.

in return I paid that fia guy 4000. to is tara jaha mere 15000 lagne thay waha sirf 4 mai kaam hogeya and excess luggage bhi 34 34 per nikal gaye. even hand carries were 14 kg each (I was carrying 3 hand carrys) and uske ilawa mere and meri wife ka back pack bhi tha weighing 6 kg each.............to itna sara weight aram se nikal geya. he dropped us in waiting lounge then he went back.

the custom asked me how much dollars I m carrying...........I told them 5000 cash only. no other currency nothing else. again than fia guy helped there and they didn't searched a single thing not a single bag. I was carrying in fact 38000 Canadian dollars cash! yes I took them all cash and nothing happened Alhamdulillah.

at Toronto airport the cbsa guy asked me nothing.............no forms of goods accompanying no forms of goods to follow. he just asked me to show the gold jewelry and by looking at all separately he stamped the photos of jewelry. nothing he asked nothing he took nothing he demanded. hamari sari tayyari gayi tail lene............

everything went smoothly. Alhamdulillah.

guys costs are really high....from airport to Mississauga the taxi charged 65 dollars. the potter charged 30 dollars for luggage. its like 10 dollars for 3 bags then 2 dollars for each additional. I got 13 bags including hand trolleys to I was charged 30 dollars. 10 dollar I gave tip to potter. cos my bags were so heavy and he even loaded them into taxi and helped a lot. potters are mostly muslims from arab countries. so our brothers.

I opened the bank account in TD bank. its very easy and smooth process. pehle appointment lia then kaam hua. i opened 2 separated checking account for me and wife and one saving accounts joint with wife. saving mai aap log sochenge sood hoga........but they said even if u put 50000 dollars in saving then the interest rate is 0.8% per anum. that means 400 dollars yearly...that means around just 35 dollars monthly on 50000 deposit...........so not that much of sood...........all u can do is take out that soood money after a year and give it to someone needy here or back in Pakistan. we can use it to help other needy instead of using ourselves or wasting. again a debatable topic.

if u have small babies upto 6 years of age please bring your strollers with u........its booked free of charge in all airline........here u have to do lots of walking...........i loosed 2 kgs and 1inch waist in just 3 days! and my son is always tired after 10 mins and i have to pick him up............so please bring strollers. muje to majburan yeha se lena hogi. so why wasting 50 dollars here if u have it there?

i have also took a locker in bank to save my jewelry and other valuables in it......cos yeha ager dakaity parti hai to sab safaya hojata hai so its wise to buy a locker here.

initially for new commers the account are free of any charge for 1st 6 months in bank and locker also. so i took all inclusive account which i can change later after 6 months. locker small free hai but not availanble.............medium mila for 28 dollars yearly.. actually ye hai 58 dollars ka and small 30 ka but for us new commers small is free so i just paid the difference of 28 for medium one cos small hai he nahi free. maine list mai naam likhwa dia hai as soon as it get available i will take it cos small free hai for 1st year and next year se only 30 dollars yearly. medium 58 hai yearly.

ok that's it till now. as soon as i get internet and sim i will come online. please pray and its really good to come here. bas its really really coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold in here. very very cold...............nothing i have ever faced. so fast wind of like 40 kms......and very chilling piercing winds! so cold really.

Your PPR email will have clear instructions. If it is VfS one of your family member can submit all passports from Lahore Gerrys center. I would recommend follow instructions for speedy return of your passports. Passport transmission charges by Gerrys Rs.1550 per passport

Salam Guys,

I received the PPR from CIC. my family is in Multan.Should they send there passports directly to Islamabad via courier or via VFS ?

There is no VFS office in Multan

What is the fees for visa stamping ?

You took a risk not declaring so much cash to Pak customs.
If there was a secondary customs check conducted, you could've been in serious trouble, along with that FIA official.

Any specific reason for not declaring the cash to customs? That's not right.. U took a huge risk!

I was carrying all Canadian dollars.....and those equals to 30K USD.....I was under limit of 10K USD per person.....so ager checking hoti bhi to bhi no one can do anything.

also I was carrying my bank statement that I got from my branch, stamped...........also carrying all the exchange slips with me....just in case to prove that this is my money and legal money and under limit.

also I already spoke with wallstreet guy, he gave me number of his manager in main branch, personal mobile number, he said if custom or any other person disturbs u than give me a call.........even at 3am night and we have settings in customs and fia at airport. so they will not disturb u.

also I was carrying all money in one bag but divided in 10K bundles. wrapped in separate envelopes. as I m not a thief and my money is legal to I didn't hide it in different places in my luggage or in my pockets.

I just didn't declared it to save hassle cos if I declare then they will start questioning and other things.

simply u can see that beside my 6 bags for 3 tickets..........I was carrying 5 excess bags..........customs asked why u r carrying so much excess and whats inside it? I said its all used cloths........if u want to check , check it but kindly close the bag urself cos I m not here to repack my luggage again. and there is nothing else than cloths. so when they were asking about luggage so definitely they will ask more about money.

update:

please don't bring your mobile phones here, they wont work except on rogers network. that is way way way too costly.

u will have to buy mobile phone from here so ur phone will be useless. even that wont sell here. so better sell ur high value phones in Pakistan before coming. buy any small set just for travelling and then buy from here.

also for anything u need credit history of at least 4 months.............obviously u wont have one so u cant buy mobiles on lower rates or on plans. u will be left to buy on prepaid and on full prices.

like Motorola G 2nd gen was free on 2 years plan but as I didn't had credit history for 4 months, I was left to buy it for CAD250.

I bought sim for Wind mobile. its very good company with cheaper rates. the minimum plan was CAD35 + 13% tax = CAD39.50.
in that u get Canada wide unlimited calls, texts, pic msgs and 2gb data. now the best part is when u exhaust ur 2gb data limit....they wont charge u anything extra but just lower down ur speed. wind mobile is 3g so net speed is somewhere between 1 and 4 mb depending on signals............after limit the lower speed they give u is 256kbps. so not a bad deal but monthly CAD40!

don't start converting anything into rupees.......that will give u nightmares

better plan to buy ur car asap in Canada...........public transport is extremely costly.......minimum fare is cad3.5 per person............so if u goes somewhere with ur family then ur at least 10 12 dollars for one side and again same for return. also bus stops are not near by and they are far away at least 10 mins walk.........that can be 20mins or more. also sometimes u have to change 2 busses.

so instead of wasting 30 40 dollars daily.........better buy car. don't buy expensive one, Toyota and Honda are market leaders here in small cars category (they count Toyota camry and Honda accord as small car ), they have good resale value and also good market. cars are cheap but most expensive thing is insurance. but again it will cost u same as public transport but u are saved the hassle of travelling to stops and waiting. especially it will save u 2 3 hours per day for job........cos bus comes after 25 mins........every 25 mins......if u miss one then wait 25 mins.

also I already spoke with wallstreet guy, he gave me number of his manager in main branch, personal mobile number, he said if custom or any other person disturbs u than give me a call.........even at 3am night and we have settings in customs and fia at airport. so they will not disturb u.

also I was carrying all money in one bag but divided in 10K bundles. wrapped in separate envelopes. as I m not a thief and my money is legal to I didn't hide it in different places in my luggage or in my pockets.

I just didn't declared it to save hassle cos if I declare then they will start questioning and other things.

simply u can see that beside my 6 bags for 3 tickets..........I was carrying 5 excess bags..........customs asked why u r carrying so much excess and whats inside it? I said its all used cloths........if u want to check , check it but kindly close the bag urself cos I m not here to repack my luggage again. and there is nothing else than cloths. so when they were asking about luggage so definitely they will ask more about money.

please don't bring your mobile phones here, they wont work except on rogers network. that is way way way too costly.

u will have to buy mobile phone from here so ur phone will be useless. even that wont sell here. so better sell ur high value phones in Pakistan before coming. buy any small set just for travelling and then buy from here.

also for anything u need credit history of at least 4 months.............obviously u wont have one so u cant buy mobiles on lower rates or on plans. u will be left to buy on prepaid and on full prices.

like Motorola G 2nd gen was free on 2 years plan but as I didn't had credit history for 4 months, I was left to buy it for CAD250.

I bought sim for Wind mobile. its very good company with cheaper rates. the minimum plan was CAD35 + 13% tax = CAD39.50.
in that u get Canada wide unlimited calls, texts, pic msgs and 2gb data. now the best part is when u exhaust ur 2gb data limit....they wont charge u anything extra but just lower down ur speed. wind mobile is 3g so net speed is somewhere between 1 and 4 mb depending on signals............after limit the lower speed they give u is 256kbps. so not a bad deal but monthly CAD40!

don't start converting anything into rupees.......that will give u nightmares

better plan to buy ur car asap in Canada...........public transport is extremely costly.......minimum fare is cad3.5 per person............so if u goes somewhere with ur family then ur at least 10 12 dollars for one side and again same for return. also bus stops are not near by and they are far away at least 10 mins walk.........that can be 20mins or more. also sometimes u have to change 2 busses.

so instead of wasting 30 40 dollars daily.........better buy car. don't buy expensive one, Toyota and Honda are market leaders here in small cars category (they count Toyota camry and Honda accord as small car ), they have good resale value and also good market. cars are cheap but most expensive thing is insurance. but again it will cost u same as public transport but u are saved the hassle of travelling to stops and waiting. especially it will save u 2 3 hours per day for job........cos bus comes after 25 mins........every 25 mins......if u miss one then wait 25 mins.

yes I declared it at Toronto, they also asked it. but they didn't checked it. they wrote it on mine and my wife's copr. I declared 38000.....they wrote 28000 on my copr and 10000 on my wife's copr.

Bhai don't expect anything.........in Pakistan I checked a lot and after so many hours of searching I bought penta band gsm with quad band 3g support...........but here its not working on any carrier except rogers.

rogers are damn costly...........just calling and texting monthly minimum 60 dollars with tax.

so I had to buy phone from here. on prepaid 2 phones costed 500 dollars.......motorla moto g 2nd gen.

and 40 dollars monthly plan for WInd Mobile........unlimited Canada wide calls and texts and pic msgs and 2gb data on 3g. after 2gb no extra cost just speed will reduce to 256kbps.

fido is almost same price as wind but a bit costly......like 10 or 15 dollars.

my sincere advice.........if u have costly and new smartphones like samsung S5 or later, lg g2 or later......iPhone 5s or later..........sell ur phones from where u r coming......don't take risk............I bought 2 new phones Nokia X2 and both of them are now useless here........22000 rupees in waste...........I m looking for someone going back to pak to send them back to sell there.

else u can take chance........it might work for u.....cos not necessary that if it didn't worked for me so it wont for u also.
