Passports Sent to Ottawa Office from USA

Dear All,

I would like to start this thread to track how many of you have sent your passports from US to the Ottawa office in the monht of August and what is the status?

Have you received it ?? or still waiting to receive it?

How did you send ? Is the return tracking number active?

Appreciate everyone's inputs. My timelines for sending the passport are on the left.

Hi All,

My passports sent to the CPP-O office on 22nd August 2013 was signed for on 23rd August 2013 by R.Mark.

So far the return tracking number is inactive. It is day 29 for me today and I have no clue as to what's happening. Starting to get worried now as it is to do with Passports !! Have already sent couple of emails to "ottpilot-immigration@cic.gc.ca" but got no response from them.

Guess just have to wait but the question is how long ?? This waiting time is killing me

Your passport request letter would have stipulated a time you would be without passports and what is the minimum wait time before you can contact them.

It was mentioned as 3-4 weeks but it is now more than 4 weeks, hence i am worried.

I have sent my passport on August 08, But instead of sending my passports to me, they sent to my attorney in Canada with the reason "They can't return passports outside Canada" which was very weird. I have seen so many USA applicants received their passports through Ottawa. Anyway, My attorney received my passports on August 22 with visa stamped date on August 14. They will not use FedEx prepaid or any other courier prepaid envelope except from Canada Post.

It is better to contact them now and expect your passports to reach you through regular mail.

Thanks Amit. I just received my passports along with my CoPR via regular mail to my home address. Was stamped on 12th Sept 2013 so it took 10 good days to come to me.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I got my Passports via Canada post Regulr mail. It was not USPS.

Kindly let me know the best way to send passports to Ottawa from USA. Also how Ottawa sends it back, I think mostly people got it through Canada Post. Please confirm.
My husband and I are in USA and will be sending the passports soon to Ottawa.

If you have anyone staying in Canada, send all your documents to them. Ask them to buy prepaid envelope from Canadian post, put ur USA address on the envelope and send your passport in one packet (including prepaid envelope) using Fedex or UPS or Canadian post with tracking number. In this way you can track your passport on both ways Else send your passport to CIC-ottawa from USA through FedEx or UPS. CIC will use regular mail to return your passport.

As rightly said my Amitseth, these are the two options -- The first being the best if you have someone who could do it for you in Canada.
Just so that you don't panic, if you send your passports via FedEx from US to CPP-Ottawa, it will reach next day or in 2 days based on your shipping but since CPP-Ottawa will send the passports back via regular mail, you might have to spend a month anxiously waiting for the passports. Also, you won't have a tracking number. All the best to you !!

Just to confirm...So if my friend in Canada sends my passport to Ottawa with a returning Canada Post envelope (with tracking), CPP-Ottawa will send the passports to USA address in those pre paid envelopes??
Please confirm. If my understanding is correct, this is the best way to do as you and Amitesh suggested....
