Our passports have been returned without stamping after 8 weeks

The letter says nothing..

anyone has any ideas?

I had requested the passports back because I am in USA currently and need to travel back in January. But, was not expecting them to hold the passports for 8 weeks and send them unstamped..

If you had asked them to send passport after stamping visa, might they would have done this.

That's the mistake.

Please don't get disheartened. Also, I know you won't let them get away with it without any explanation from their end. I suggest you send a case specific email to CHC ND saying you will return your passports for further processing as per their request right after reaching India (better if you can specify a date). I hope you explained them the reason you need passport back for. Aren't you thinking of scheduling an appointment with them to discuss this issue?

That's really a sad news aanbaan.

U had sent all together on 21 Oct 2009 as per CHC-Delhi's request, if only u had waited a bit. 2 months was the max time they would have anyway sent ur visas.

Now, calgirl's advice is right. The moment u reach Delhi, redeposit the pps imdtly with a suave coverning note & the returning envelope having ur Indian address label. And wait there until u get them back, before flying out to US or Canada. This might make the going a bit fast.

"ask and you shall receive" . But kidding aside, they probably were not done yet processing your apps so when you asked for your passport/s, they sent them back to you without the visa/s.

how long have you been to USA? Is it minimum six months at a stretch? If yes then arrange for FBI clearance and state PCC and send them along with the passport. Also send a new travel detail form.

My friend, recently CIC asked for my passport along with medicals and i have to take an emergency trip home, i wrote to them to explain that i can' t send my pp with other docs NOW , they replied that i can just send the medicals and other docs now and send my passport after my trip , so i think you should have asked them and told them clearly why you needed the passport and when you will return , they could have replied positively and could have given you further instructions , meanwhile, you can still write to them and inform them about when u will send ur passport back, no worries , your case is not closed , just keep communications with them

I submitted my passport on 17 November 2009 and I had also enclosed a letter requesting them to send my passport back as soon as possible as I was planning to travel back home to India for Christmas. I got my passport back on the 3rd of December with the visa on it.

it's really sad to hear. but calgirl has given right advice. send then e-mail and also if u have been there for 6 months send them an updated travel form and FBI clearance. we r pretty sure everything will work out fine and u will get ur visa.

Thats actually very bad and more over they have not stated any instruction as well along with it. Really sorry to hear that buddy but when you come back from your travel you can submit it and I am sure you will get the Visa soon. But you should send a case specific inquiry so that you can understand what they want.

This is really sad after a very long wait!
Now u must get a new FBI clearance and travel history form completed.
Also, as they will be on holiday very soon, only God knows when they will request for your passport back.
If i were you, i would have been patient enough to wait for them to do whatever they want to do with my passport(maximum is 45working days). Now the wait begins again for you! This is a lesson to a lot of us who are so impatient! Now you will learn how to be patient(by force and for sure, do you have a choice? of course NO). But it's never the end of the world for you so cheer up my man.

Thanks for all your replies... And thanks specifically to those who tried to give a suggestion....

As per me CHC, ND acted quite mature by sending back my passports because otherwise it would have been impossible for me to travel back to India and I would have to disclose the information to my employer as to why I cannot travel back. So, they in a way saved my job.

Now, my guess is that since there's neither an approval or rejection, there's no actual rejection. I'm and my wife have had 10 trips each overseas since we were 18 to various countries. So, as per GeorgeJoseph's analysis, CHC takes longer with such cases to clear security and now I agree with him.

What I'm going to do is -

Since, I'm reaching back India on Jan 11, I'm going to submit passports immediately after that without any case specific inquiry. and if they have an objection or rejection they'll simply send the passports back.

I won't need the US FBI clearance because the duration of stay is 4 months only.

@alok11 - where's the question of patience here...if I need to travel back, I need to travel back.. I cannot afford to stay in US without a US salary. Those who know me from the forum know that I was never impatient through the process and have helped several people through the process. But, maybe you cannot appreciate the position I was in. and BTW, holding the passports for 8 weeks is 56 days and 56 days > 45 days... I got the news and was naturally a little disappointed so shared immediately with the forum.

Well, regardless of whether you have helped some people on this forum or not, I have personally learnt one or two lessons from your own experience. For me, patience is the 'key'.
One more thing, if you don't send a case specific enquiry to CHC, you can obviously expect them to return your passport back without visa again. Without them requesting for your passport again, I would not advice you to send it to them without first asking them if it is ok for you to send it........that's common sense anyway.
Whatever you chose to do, it's your choice and all the best.
