Passport validity to enter to Canada as a student -- Urgent

I am going to Canada for phd study from UAE Dubai.

My ticket date : 29-July-2012

Visa expiry date: 19-September-2012

Passport expiry date: 17-October-2012

Length of PhD Study : 03-Years

Is there any minimum passport validity requirement to enter to Canada as a student?

Please help me.

Hi,

If you are worried about the immigration at the port of arrival, don’t be. It should not be a hassle as you have a valid visa, and a valid passport. Your visa has been stamped with an expiry date prior to that of your passport's.

The important issue here is, your length of study is 3 years, and your visa has not been issued for that length. I assume, it is due to the validity period of your passport. So you will need a renewal (which can be achieved easily) in your new, valid passport.

Note that the validity of the visa will never exceed beyond the validity of your passport.

You must have atleast 6 months validity left on your passport before you can be permitted to enter Canada.Try and get a new passport and take it along with the old passport when traveling.Show them both passports and request to get your study permit stamped on your new passport at the point of entry.
