Passport validity not covering entire stay

Hi. I recently submitted my passport for my study permit application. However my passport expires in 2 and a half years and my studies will not be over till the following year after this. Could this be a problem when issuing the visa or would they issue it to expire the same time as my passport? I can certainly renew my passport in Canada and apply for study permit extension. Any insights?

You will get your visa issued till your passport expiry.
 
Depending on your country's passport renewal guidelines and policies, you can come to Canada and contact your country's embassy here in Canada to renew your passport before it expires. Then you can contact IRCC for a study permit and TRV extension. Just make sure you do this 6–12 months ahead of your expiry, as it could take some time.
 
Hello friends...
I received an email from ircc on the 22 of December 2022 saying they have updated my application status and also they said my application status has changes but Up to now no new message in my Gckey account..
Anyone having an information on that please share it with me....
 
I believe that is called a ghost update, It happens a few times during the processing and might just mean someone is working on the file. But you should keep checking the application regularly, especially since you actually got an e-mail from IRCC
