passport validity needed for family sponsorship

Hi everyone,

I am planning to apply for family sponsorship next month (Sept 2017). My passport is going to expire in July 2019. Should I renew my passport before applying?

I wouldn't bother... What country are you applying from? Does it normally take a long time to renew and get your passport? July 2019 is a long way away from Sept 2017- but it still may be an idea to apply for a new one while your application is process and then just update your visa office with that information when you do.
