PASSPORT VALIDITY FOR RE-ENTRY TO USA..URGENT

I was planning to make Record of Landing ( before my PR VIsa expires in Mar 2015) with family and come back to USA in 1-2 days where I am currently working and residing as non immigrant worker. Yesterday I realized my son's passport is expiring in May 2015 and I have read online that to reenter USA we need 6 months validity at least.

Can someone guide me what I should be doing and what are the rules.

What country's passport does your son hold? That'll help. Some countries (that are visa-free with the US) don't need 6 months validity. Probably though, I'd apply for a new passport for your son to be safe.
