Hi all,

I just got notified that a decision has been made on my application for temporary residence visa, and I should send my passport within 30 days. Now I Have questions about where should I mail my passport and what should I include in the mail.

I found on CIC website that I should include 'Any applicable VAC fees, such as passport transmission fees'. I was never informed of any transmission fee when I applied, so do I need to pay this fee?

Just want to make sure I should send my stuff to this address on the website:

EAPP
Canadian Consulate General
Immigration Section
1251 Avenue of the Americas,
New York, NY 10020

Thanks for any reply!!

P.S., for your information, I applied my TRV on Sep 19 and a decision was made on Oct 15.

VAC fees = Visa Application Centre

Having applied online and getting the request for passport submission, what they are likely asking you to do is to send your passports to the Visa Centre instead of directly to the consulate. The VAC will look at your passport to make sure that it is valid, matches the copies you submitted in your application, ensure that it isn't damaged, and then transmit it to the visa office. The VACs do this so that it is less work for the VOs to do, and thus, makes visa processing quicker.

You should check your request letter they sent to your MyCIC account for the link. Once you arrive on the page, choose your country where you are applying from (U.S), and then it will have these instructions on how to submit your passport.

Submit your passport at the visa application centre

You can submit your passport(s) by mail or in person.

With your passport(s), make sure you include:
The passport request letter you received from CIC
Any applicable VAC fees, such as passport transmission fees

Check the website of your closest visa application centre (VAC) for more information:
New York, USA

Submit your passport at the visa office

US Address

To submit by mail or courier, you must include your passport, a copy of the request letter, as well as a Pre-paid flat rate U.S. Postal Service "Express Mail envelope" (9"x12")with the following information:
A complete mailing label on the return envelope showing your full mailing address in the "Deliver To" field and the address of the Canadian Consulate General in New York in the "Return Address" field
A daytime telephone number on the mailing label above the recipient address

If you chose to not provide us with such a return envelope, we will mail you via regular mail (US Postal Service First Class Mail).

Canadian Address

We return passports and documents to addresses in Canada by US Postal Service First Class Mail only.

Please send to:

EAPP
Canadian Consulate General
Immigration Section
1251 Avenue of the Americas,
New York, NY 10020

You have these two choices. I recommend the VAC for a quicker return, but it will cost you about 35 USD.

Thanks for your reply!
I see, I don't need to submit a VAC fee if I don't mail there. I think I can mail everything directly to the VO since I still have plenty of time.
Best,
