When I applied for residency they didn't have a list of translators, so I called my embassy and asked if they knew anyone. Which they did. Try it!

Every single page that has exit/entry stamps, visas, or unclear stamps to immigration Canada which are in any language other than English or French.

Usually certified translators charge $5 on each single stamp on one passport. However, if you have one more stamp in other passport, they will charge you $25 for it, as they have done to me. Even though, it was just one single stamp", and it was not even an entry or exit stamp.

I paid $96 after tax.

I have never left Canada since I arrived. However, I had to translate all of the non-English stamps prior to coming to Canada, as the immigration officer during the test date, would not be able to read the dates and know whether they are old or new or what the words on the stapm mean.

So I am going to translate all the family passports, should I submit all the pages with the application, this is going to be expensive!

No, don't send anything with your applicatin form other than what it says in the document checklist. Keep the certified translation of passport with you, and present them during your test day "the original certified translation".

If you have any family member under 18, their passports do not need to be translated. Only adults.

The application guide does not state that you need to translate the biographical pages of your passport(s). And I believe most passports have biographical information in the country's official language and English (at least). So there is no need for translation.

I think you might have actually misled op by saying that all pages containing immigration information need to be translated. When he files his citizenship application, he only has to send the biographical pages of the passport(s). And those pages are usually printed in the country's official language as well as in English. So there is NO need to translate the information again.

Thanks very much professional 1 ,for the useful info.

Are you sure that the passports for minors (under 18 kids) do not need to be translated? One of my sons will be still under 18 ,by the time of our application and may be till the test as well.Should'nt I get his passport translated ???

Any advice will be highly appreciated!

No minors don't need to meet the residence requirements in order to qualify for citizenship. The reason of getting passports translated is just to verify the travel history through the stamps.

Minors are not required to attend citizenship test. Therefore, no one is gonna see their passports on the test day.

I think you did not read my post properly. I said every single page that has an exit/entry stamps or visas in languages other than french or english has to be translated.

Since when the bio data page would have an exit/entry stamp or even visa on it ?

Read posts carefully before you respond.

Travelling passports are supposed to have an English version any way.

Thats what i figured guys, thanks, i will just submit the bio pages of the passports for now, and save the translation till the interview date, as our passports might get updated stamps then:) so happy, i do not have to go through this hassle right now, filling the applications is enough for me!
