Passport submission - VAC - Different country

Hi,

I am a Canadian PR residing in Canada. My wife applied for temporary/visitors visa from US but she is currently stuck and living in India.

Today, We got a letter from IRCC asking about the location to where she intends to submit her passport if the application gets approved. What is the best scenario in this case ? Can anyone suggest ?

Does VAC in India ( new delhi ) return the passport soon enough ? Does she submit her passport to Canada ( or US ) ?

She should only plan on submitting where she will physically be long enough to submit the passport locally. Right now it does not seem that the visa offices in India are issuing the visas/COPRs because of the travel restrictions, and no-one has news on when that may change, only guesses.

So I would suggest that she plan on submitting in India unless/until it becomes clear that she actually is going to be outside India and for long enough to be certain she has time.

I'd suggest responding to IRCC that she would plan on submitting there and they would likely be ready to issue as soon as they are open. You could likely change that to submit elsewhere later (if she should end up being elsewhere). The problem would likely be that if you tell them in USA, she may not be able to submit in time (due to travel restrictions).

This is at best a guess though.

And no, I do not think it makes sense to try to send the passport eg to USA to do there, and certainly not in Canada (that would be a different process of virtual landing and will not work properly if she's out of country).

We are in the same issue here, i've applied on Feb 2nd, 2021 within canada now im back home but no updates!!

Hi @armoured, Where did you find this info? VFS website says they are open with limited services. How do I submit passports to them in India?

I thought and had seen that the vacs in India are closed, and hence no local option. If that's changed -well, contact the vac.
