Passport Status: Under Process

Hello,
I am from Bangladesh. And I have been accepted for Bachelors of Science degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland for Fall 2014. I have applied for Study Permit on February 3rd 2014 from VFS Dhaka. My application was received my Canada Visa Office Singapore on 6th February 2014. From then still now whenever I track my application, my passport status says it is under process. According to the CIC website the normal processing time is 9 weeks for Singapore (that is where my application is being processed), but mine has been more than that. I didn't even get any medical test request yet. What should I do? Should I just wait? Or inform them? My class starts on September that's not a problem but the amount of time the process is taking concerns me a bit. :-\

In Cic website (Singapore) there are two kinds of enquiry one is general which is via email and the other one is case specific which has a link takes me to a page which contains fields where I can put personal info's such as UCI, File no. etc. Should I make a case specific inquiry?

Just now I tracked my application and it shows that "Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office, Singapore on 23/04/2014 to the Canada Visa Application Centre DHAKA." Does that mean it has been rejected? As I didn't get any medical call. :'(

If your passport has been dispatched without request to submit medical reports, then it probably means you've been refused! Were you going on scholarship? Anyway, you can always re-submit visa application if you've documents to clarify the reason for refusal. Anyway, keep us up-dated when you get your passport. May be miraculously, you're exempted from medical examination.

No I didn't get any scholarship. Btw how they usually ask for medical? Will the tacking show anything like "you've been asked to submit medical" or anything like that?

Ok. Normally, for paper applications they will send you e-mail with medical forms (thus if your provided them with e-mail). The Visa Centre where you submitted your application may also inform you (if the embassy sent your forms directly to them). In rare cases, if both contacts fail, then they might send by post your medical forms together with your passport for you to do the medical examination and submit them again. In this case your status will show, medical report requested. If only passport has been dispatched, it means your application has been processed and the result has been sent.

In this case your status will show, medical report requested. If only passport has been dispatched, it means your application has been processed and the result has been sent.

So in my case there is a huge chance for rejection then. The only thing I will be upset if it is a rejection is that it took 79days! I mean they could have rejected me long before. I have missed many of the admission session in my local universities just because it was taking too long and everyone was saying my visa will be granted Bad luck then.

I'm very sorry for you. My experience is that the longer study permit processing takes the higher the refusal rate. Application that meets all their requirements are given approval within days or weeks not more than 4, especially if made online.

The embassy processes paper applications as they're received, so that the earliest applications are processed first. In fact, yours was within the required processing time (check for Singapore: 9 weeks or 63 days). http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/students.asp#asia

In the meantime, just wait for your passport. It could be that you're asked to submit medical report and you didn't get their e-mail. Or May be it'll will be necessary to re-submit your application again in case of refusal. Don't panic bro! It shall be well. Education isn't a race. I've faced such situation before and had to wait for another year. Write back here when you get your passport and you'll get advice on how to handle the situation.

Sure, I'll let you know the result as soon as I get it. I hope to hear advice from you later on And no I haven't done any medical before, and this is the first time I have applied for study permit outside my country.

If your were refused because of purpose of visit and current employment status ONLY, then it is easy to re-apply by adding letter of explanation. But for family ties and travel history (which is unusual) make it complicated. You have already submitted everything about your family, but they still refused you because of family ties. Now the issue of travel history cannot be escaped at this moment. Situations like this means you should consider re-apply after some years (at least 1 year). However, a friend I know who was also refused with the same reasons as yours applied to another country to study (USA) and he was given visa. I think you should try somewhere and after, if you want you can apply to Canada for PhD if you have masters and should you wish. All the best in your future studies.
