Someone told me that if you received your passport 5 to 8 days, it means you got denied. But if the TRV processing takes more than 8 days, it means there's a high chance that you will get approved.

Is this true? Is there like some basis to it?

And I also heard that the Visa officers have quota. Like for example, if the consul has 500 TRV applications, he/she only needs to approve 250 applications and the rest will get denied regardless if they proved their strong ties in their respective country.

No wonder I have friends who have an established and big company, where they show all their assets like credit cards, lands, 4 different bank cert and bank statements, been in and out in the country for more than a decade and still they get denied.

From the Philippines. I just heard that's how they do it. I don't know if it's true.

Today is my 8th day, and still no result yet. It was the travel agency who process my application since I'm going in a group tour. So I asked my travel agent, and she told me that's what she noticed too. Some of her clients who have been denied got the result around 5 to 8 business days. And while the others who are lucky got the result around 10 to 14 business days.

So I checked this forum, and searched some topic about denied TRV, some provided that date they sent their application and the date they received, and so far it did match.

Did you check the actual processing times for Philippines? Honestly I do not know how much truth could be in all what you heard.

Here the link.

yes I did. 14 business days :)

Well I hope about the quota thing is not true. Coz I already have a ticket, it's an advance birthday gift from my common law. It will be a waste if I get denied.

Where is your common law? In the Philippines or in Canada?

Philippines. He knows It's a dream of mine to see Niagra falls which I was given an opportunity 5 years ago but due to unavoidable circumstances I had to cancel my plan and attend an important business event. I was only given a single entry visa.

And now I'm hoping I'll be given one again, even if it's a one month visa only. :)

If you were given then, chances are you'd be given again this time. First they look at is your ties with the Philippines- a good job with a reputable company. Unlike the US where they look at how much assets you have, in Canada, the officers look at what will make you want to go back to in the Philippines.

I have four kids. Two kids from my ex husband and two kids from common law partner. I've been working for 7 straight years already. But based on what I read here, even if they have work, properties and family here, they still get denied. I wonder if having a quota is really true.

By the way, my flight is on the 5th of April. I have one week and a half left.

Oh yeah, I also read in the CIC website that having a previous visa does not guarantee that you will get approved.

I'm just praying that they will allow me to visit their beautiful country before the world ends?

By the way, does it help if there's a letter of intent included?

I wrote a letter of intent, here's what I said:

To Visa Officer,

My name is Peggie Paulette Gutierrez, 30 years of age and a Filipino citizen. Last March 5, 2011, my common-law-partner bought me a plane ticket to Toronto, Canada as an advance birthday present. He knows it has been a dream of mine to visit Niagara Falls, which I was unable to do when I was given the opportunity in the past.

It is my greatest intention to grab this opportunity of visiting Niagara Falls. It is also my intent to respectfully request to have my visa approved before the departure date on April 5, 2011 if possible. I was given a second chance to fulfill this dream which has now become a possibility, I am excited and anxious at the same time.

Thank you for your time and I hope for you kind consideration.

Sincerely,

Peggie Paulette Gutierrez

I attached a copy of my ticket, though I know it doesn't guarantee me having a visa. But I hope my letter of intent helps.

I don't think the officers have a quota. Those are hearsay. I know of some who got denied the first time but when they applied again were granted a visa. I also know of some who have been denied once, granted single entry then granted multiple entries. Your letter of intent might help and having your family there helps. But mostly I've seen that a job with a reputable company helped the visa applicant.

Let's wait and see. The copy of the ticket does not guarantee approval though that is why they say not to get a ticket before one have the visa.

BTW can't you move your departure date just in case? I know one can move the departure date, departure airport and such for a fee.

I was actually thinking of moving it. I called my travel agency and asked her if I should move the date of my departure, she advised me to wait until the 30th of March. We're just praying I'll be granted a visa before the 2nd of April.
