I am a Canadian citizen and my husband has just received an email from immigration asking him to send his passport, RPRF payment, confirmation of address, etc.

When we applied for his permanent residency I was pregnant so we mentioned that in our application and included a copy of the ultrasound. In the email we received from immigration it asks if the family composition has changed and since our daughter has now been born I wrote them an email informing them as such.

They’ve given us 15 days to send in my husband’s passport, payment, etc. so my question is:

Should we go ahead and send in his passport or do we need to wait to hear back from them about the change in family composition?

I’m concerned that we won’t be able to send the passport within the time limit that they’ve given us if we wait for them to respond to our email.

Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

If your child was born in Canada, they will be a Canadian citizen by default. If you were a naturalized Canadian citizen and they were NOT born in Canada, they will still be a Canadian citizen. So by and large this does not affect your husband's PR sponsorship since the child does not need to be sponsored. With that said, I would proceed with sending them whatever they are asking of you.

Send them the passport, etc. You can't update them on the child yet, because they will require a copy of the provincial birth certificate. If they haven't gotten your passport back to you by the time you receive the birth certificate, you should send them a copy. If you have your passport stamped and ready to land before you receive the birth certificate, then you shouldn't need to worry about it.
