Hi everyone,

After we couldn't log into CIC last night my American wife and I were panicked! Turns out we got an email this morning requesting her passport.

We were also requested to provide a police clearance checks from France and Taiwan.

She studied abroad for a semester in Paris and we lived together in Taiwan for two years.

Maybe an obscure question, but does anyone know how to go about getting police checks from these countries fast and efficiently? We only have 60 days to do so.

There is a link on cic's website to each corresponding countries police check website. I can't post the link myself at present but it is on their site if you search for it.

They will be issued in the according time frame. For example, with uk certs you can pay extra to get them done in 2 days. Check the websites to see id this option is available for these two countries.

If not there will be processing times on the websites. Have a look at these first and if they will take longer than 60 days (which I'm sure they won't) then its beat to contact cic

Just make sure that before you send your passport to make good clear copies of the important pages as you may need these for the police certs.

I am the sponsor.

My husband were asked to submit Singapore Police Clearance as he worked there for more than 2 years. On the PPR email, there's like 5 attachment. We were given 45 days to complete all the requirements including this clearance from SG.

- Appendix A
- AOR
- Singapore Clearance Request Letter
- Singapore Appeal Form
- Singapore Police Clearance Application Form

Aside from the documents, they also gave us the link on how to reach Singapore Police Cantonment and so if we need further info we can get in touch with them right away.

Didn't you received any attachment like forms from for your France and Taiwan Police check request? There should be one. But if you didnt really received one, might as well google their website and see the requirements from there.

Once you apply for them, you will have to tell CIC you applied for them but they take upwards to 12-18 weeks and you will send them as soon as you receive them.

the french one is actually not that difficult to do. I'll send you the instructions (from the website, but in case you need help with the french part, I have it translated for somebody else before, so that should not be too difficult!).
I don't know about the Singapore one, but the French one can be pretty quick. Shouldn't be a problem within 60 days - I got mine done in a week, sent outside of France... so maybe 2 weeks total, 3 at the maximum.

Don't be a jerk. This is all new to us and a struggle for a lot of people. We submitted an FBI report since she is a US citizen. We didn't know we had to submit a police report for the other countries. Especially since my wife only studied in France for 3 months.

They usually ask if a person worked or studied outside their country for more than 6 months. Why do they have to ask for the one in France where she was there for 3 months? hhmmm.. just kinda strange.. lol

I have sent you a private message with all the instructions, check your inbox and let me know if you need help with it. Normally for 3 months in France she was not requested to submit a certificate, but they do ask sometimes. So - just go with it, apply for the certificate and send it with a note explaining that because it was a 3 months stay only you didn't think that it was necessary.
Good luck!
