Hi there.
This morning I received passport request through my email ;D (cc'ed to wife-sponsor). It basically said (translated from french):
" We have reached the final stage of processing your application. In order for us to issue PR visa you have to provide us with the following documents"
1- Passport and passport of persons accompanying you. Bear in mind that you would need your passport for medical exams if medicals are required.

2- Other documents
* Medical exams (see instructions attached)
* Most recent FBI background check
* Letter of intent stating your desire to reside in Canada.

My previous medicals dated (11/30/2010) have expired and I guess they cannot issue a visa after medicals have expired. This sounds good to me, but in these situations you never know what you gonna get but I am still confident.

PMM and everybody else that has been in this situation please tell me what you guys think.

Thanks

Note: Medicals need to be sent this time in PARIS, France while the VISA Office is in Dakar, Senegal.

1. Once they receive the medical results (about 3/4 weeks after the exam) electronically from Paris, she submits the passport (wait until the FBI certificate) and the letter of intent, send in one package. I would think the COPR (visa) would be issued about 5-6 weeks after that.

Thanks PMM and Canadastar for your answers. You have been of great assistance throughout this process. I know I sound like its already over.I felt very excited this morning and couldn't believe my eyes considering the frustrations and long waiting times other members in the forum go through in general. I already felt blessed enough to visit my wife on a TRV from the USA with PR in process.

Since I have no idea how a letter of intent to reside in Canada looks like. I would appreciate someone to help me with a sample and information on the average number of words it must contain. I don't want to mess this up sooo close to the end.

Thanks a lot

HELP PMM Re: PASSPORT REQUEST WITH MEDICALS AND FBI CLEARANCE TO REDO

Hello PMM, Canadastar and all the others.

I just redid my medicals today. I gave the doctor Section A provided by the VO of Dakar, Senegal along with the instructions (on a separate sheet) on where to send the medical results on Paris, France. To my surprise, the doctor insisted that they have been instructed by Immigration Canada to send the medical results to Ottawa, Canada because its the final destination of all medical results collected by Visa Offices around the world and that by doing so it helps Immigration Canada to easily retrieve records while processing PR applications.

Since I am at the approaching final stage of my application (Passport Request) I don't want to jeopardize my PR application by disregarding the instructions of Visa Office in Dakar, Senegal i.e. sending the medicals in Paris, France. But at the same time looks like the MD knows what she's doing. The doctor told me she will contact Immigration Canada to make verifications. She also gave me the option to ship the results (at my expense) to the Canadian Embassy Medical Service in Paris.

I am asking for your opinion and experience (s) on this kind of situation.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Do as the letter instructs and send it to Paris. The doctor may be knowledgeable, but your final authority is what the visa office wants you to do.

Did it say your application was approved? My husband just got email stating that he was approved and final stage was to send in passport for visa. He had already sent medical. They did not request interview. I am actually impressed with the Paris office. Our complete application was sent on December 29th, and I was approved to sponser him in Feb 15th, and on May 25th we received email that he was approved and we were on the final stage of submiting passport for visa stamp.

Hi gingles.
Well, its a good indication that your application is in its final stage :). All thats left is a visa stamp in passport (unless you are from visa exempt country) and you COPR (confirmation of permanent residence). My email did not say that I was approved because my medicals and FBI clearance were expired so I had to satisfy them that I did not constitute a risk/threat for the security and public health in Canada. So I had to redo them but you could tell there were ready to issue my immigrant visa it was nothing but paperwork.
I hope I have answered your question. Paris Office is very fast in the processing of family class sponsorship.
Congratulations. :)

Hi Tharealimmigrant!

I am in the same position you were before. I have been instructed to redo my medical and send the result to Stockholm Visa office but my visa office is London. I just wanted to know where your medical results have been send to, Paris or Dakar? I called the other day and they seem they are ready to issue my visa but my medicals are running out soon so they asked me to redo the medicals again over the phone in order to finalize the application. Thanks in advance!

Hello Yaslin.
The Doctor in your country has instructions on where to send your medicals to. It is usually the RMO (regional medical office), but in my case when I redid my medicals I showed the email instructions to the doctor and had him send the results to the address that was provided by the Embassy. It caused a little confusion because that was against the DMP's instructions but everything worked out well.
My advice to you is to email your visa Office in case your DMP insists that the results be sent to the medical office that they usually deal with. If not go by what the email said and have the doctor's office provide you with a tracking number for your results.
You should be fine. Keep track of everything you redo, (keep copies of receipt of payment for medicals and tracking number).
Hope I helped.
