Passport Request:Visa Stamping in Person

Hello, we applied TRV online via agent in Philippines last Dec.11,2018 then got passport requests for my family last January 23,2018.

My question is, since we are currently residing in Libya and there is no VFS or CvAc here, can we submit it in the nearest VAC which is in Tunisia? And in Tunisia, you have to go in person to submit the passports and passport request letters. I am a Filipino citizen and I don’t have visa going there. I already applied last September but they never process my application.

My husband is Libyan and does not require via going there. Can he be the only one to go there and present the requirements? Or is it necessary that I have to be with him?

Also, does anyone knows how many days or weeks it would take to process the visa stamping? Coz my husband needs to go home for work and he can’t go hom without his passport.

Your agent is talking bull poo. He can courier your passports to VFS Tunis, no need to travel in person. There is a visa office in Tunis, which is the link I sent above. Your passports can be stamped there even if London, if this agent is correct, processed it. There are these things called "computers" and "Internet" which allows IRCC to process and check visa applications regardless of where they are around the world. Tell your agent to catch up with the 21st century. It may have been true before, but it isn't now.

Yeah, I think that my agent is really confused. So you mean to say that our visa can be stampes in Tunisia? Not needed to be in London? Also, I read about Tunisia VFS that they are not accepting courier. It has to be in person. Please correct me if I am wrong. I will paste here the link.

I guess that’s where your agent got their info. If they are based in the Philippines, then they are going on this info rather than first hand experience with applicants in Libya.

On the other hand, the VFS Tunis website says you can send via courier:

It would be best to contact VFS Tunis to clarify, unless your husband is really willing to go to Tunis in person. Yes, he can submit your passport as well.

We tried contacting VFS Tunis and even sent them email, unfortunately, we didn’t get anything. No response and recorded operators are the only ones answering.

Anyway, yes. We have no choice but for my husband to go to Tunisia. Hopefully, they can get our visa stamped there and not in London.

Oh, one more thing. Not PPR related. But, can my husband open GIC account for himself? I mean in his name? Or it’s only allowed for students? We want to transfer our money in Canada as it is not allowed to bring $10000 with you in the POE.

I have my bank account here in Libya but it is not allowed to do money transfer. Is there any way to deposit his money and open account in canada while we are here?

Not sure about GIC but it’s definitely allowed to bring more than $10000 at the POE. You just have to declare it at customs, and they will ask your husband the reason why he’s bringing in that amount.

What is not allowed is bringing it in and not declaring it.

Aha. So, maybe the best reason is that we will open a bank account there to deposit the money as our savings? For cost of living purposes? Is that okay?

I know that it has been 4years from this discussion, I'm an Algerian and our visa application are processed in Paris, I was wondering if I re-apply from Tunisia as a tourist, would my application be processed in IRCC TUNISIA or IRCC PARIS?
