Passport request spouse England

I was wondering for those who have either completed the PR or are also waiting: do they request passports if you are sponsoring someone from England? If so, how long do they usually have them for?

My husband is from England and I am a Canadian citizen currently in the process of sponsoring him - our PR has just been transferred to Mississauga from Sydney and we have received the request for the medical, biometrics and have received AOR and sponsor approval. We have some trips coming up that he needs his passport for so I am quite concerned.

No, people from visa-exempt countries don't need to send the passport. You'll only need to send a copy of the passport.
