Passport Request(PPR) - Submit Passport in Canada despite applying in India

HI Guys!!

If we send passports with someone isnt that risky???I have heard some term called Visa in absentia??Does anone know about what does this mean? Anyhow i was in the same situation and i applied for a visitor visa and got it second time...

Aaad, when did you send your passport to Ottawa ? Have you received it back ?

Its been 25 days and havent got my passport back...

Just to give you an update....i finally submitted the passports after over a month of PPR.

Fortunately, my friend was coming over and he brought my spouse's passport.

I am Canadian PR..I was in the same boat in 2011 end..as I applied for my pr in 2010 when i was doing my masters in canada (in Canada 2007-2011)..fortunately my processing was done in Seattle office..I applied US visitor visa..got for 10 yrs..as US visa officer asked me purpose of US visit and I told him for canadian PR..he gave me 10 yr B1/B2..visitor visa..I sent my passport in US and became PR and returned Canada as PR in 2012..when I was in India I inquired you can send passport through DHL from self authorization letter..but kid of riky...even if you get you passport back with PR stamp when you leave for Canada from India Indian border officer may ask you how you got ur VISA when you weren't present..it's big risk..unless you get either Singapore or some other visitor visa..which generally u will get easily and from there you can immigrate to Canada so you can avoid VISA in absence case..plz also don't send PP with any one which is riskier for u and the carrier as well..all the best
