Hi there,

This is a hard query to search for due to the words involved, so I haven't had much luck finding definitive information on this forum or on the CIC website.

I just submitted my app and received an AOR, which is great and the wait begins. I am a US citizen living/working in Canada and applying under EE-CEC. During this waiting period does anyone have information regarding whether we should not leave Canada and/or whether our passport will need to be sent in at some point? I plan to leave Canada for holidays, but do not want to jeopardize my PR application or be unable to return in time to mail in my passport for whatever reason.

many thanks,
z

I'm not familiar with US citizen applying for CEC. However, regarding sending passport to cic you would be given 30 DAYS to submit your documents, which mean you can leave for holidays and in case cic requested ur passport then you could comeback since your just cross the boarder. make sure you are the one who receive cic emails or if you have a representative let him/her know that your travelling so they can keep track of your application. Also, make sure you are eligible to re-enter Canada after you leave ( in your case if your US citizen you don't need a visa)

best of luck
