Dear All,

I've just received an email requesting my passport from the Vienna office. I have 30 days to get the passport sent to them. Since I will be visiting Vienna on business in mid-June, I was wondering whether it is possible to submit the passport in person and pick it up in person without going through expensive courier services? The in-person option is not mentioned in the email (they offer, registered email, courier, VAC etc.). Also, if anyone has used VAC passport transmission from Serbia or BiH, how long does it take to get the stamped passport back?

Thanks for all responses in advance.

It will be up to your Visa office if that will be possible or not. Email them asking them if there is any possibility to bring in and pick up your passport in person due to the reason that you will be in Vienna yourself. Give them a few days to answer and if you do not receive a response you will have to send it out by courier before the 30days is up.

My wife was able to have her passport looked after in person but she had certain circumstances that made it an acceptable priority to have this done by her visa office.

Chris.

Thanks a lot. It makes sense to allow it but it is important to check. I am worried that my email to them led to an automated reply promising a proper reply within 28 working days. Hopefully they will reply sooner as it just feels like a really ultra convenient way to do this.

Anyone do anything similar with the Vienna office?

My husband is from Serbia and he got his ppr yesterday. We are also looking for the best way to get his passport stamped, but I think we are going to send it through VAC in Belgrade.
Good luck to you.

VAC offers the simplest way of doing it (Couriers can be a hassle as you need to get them to communicate with the embassy with Vienna which is notoriously difficult) and I'd probably do the same if it wasn't for the fact that I have to be in Vienna on other business next month. I've heard that people have done it in-person so it shouldn't be a problem but it would be nice if they'd just inclued the possbility/working hours in their email.

That doesn't happen, as each case is different as to the reason that a pickup request could be granted.

First off, CONGRATS! I am happy to hear someone from the Vienna office got a response for a passport request! Just curious about a few things:

- when did you send your application? How long was your wait to get your visa?
- did you end up going to pick up your visa in person?

My husband is from Serbia and we applied in March 2015 and are now anxiously waiting for him to get his PR.

Thanks!!

Enjoy Canada :)

Hi one of my niebhour delivered the PP in person for immigration stamping of her sister at CPC Ottawa Feb 2015. Both visited Ottawa office along with required self addressed envelope & they got acknowledgement too. Too thiet surprise next day the ecase shows PP received & decision made. Instead of waiting it will be better to talk to LVO on the issue so that time limit should not expire.
