There is nothing that can block you from going to Canada at this stage. Your PP is on their hands and they will stamp visa anyhow and send it to CHC Dhaka. just prepare for your Luxurious journey. Try to buy some Dollars as I have heard that dollars worth 70 taka is now being sold at 75 taka in Dhaka. Poor stolen economy and its corrupt countrymen !

Guys, what is your opinion about my case?

As some of you already know, I had used copies of my manual passport at different stages of my application process till my medical. However, I had applied for machine readable passport (MRP) which was issued before and delivered after my medical.

After receiving PPR, I submitted both my passports on 14 Sept, with a cover letter mentioning the date of my receiving the new passport, and that my machine readable passport bears the number of my old passport, and that I was also sending the old passport for the purpose of verification, if necessary.

I was expecting an update on E-cas on last Tuesday. But although some other people who had submitted Passports on 14th sep got the update, I did not.

Please share what you think on this.

Because you invented a new thing. Every new invention needs passing of renewed tests and scrutinies.

I think ripon, goal and others submitted their old non MRP passports. Only god knows under whose advice you introduced your strategy to send old and MPR together with a cover letter. Granting PR is a legal issue with the CIC and yours one made an exception for which I am sure they are trying to find a solution which wouldnt bother the law if they had stampled the visa on your MRP passport.

Still you need to wait. Have you asked to local CHC about your case? what did they say? Do Canada let the non MRP holders into their country?

Well, I have consulted with myself and my reasoning was

1. MRP has updated technology. Any updated technology makes things easier for everyone.

2. MRP will become the only acceptable format in many countries very soon

3. Getting a MRP as a replacement for the Non-MRP is legal and many countries besides Bangladesh are replacing the old passports with MRP

4. Since I have replaced my passport legally, and have updated CIC immediately, I expect they appreciate it because MRP should make their life easy as well.

5. As my new passport clearly bears the number of my old passport (and my National ID Card number as well), I presume it is an extension of my old passport, which is why, CIC should not need the passport related documents (such as Police Clearance Certificate) once again.

6. Since I have submitted both the passports, they have the liberty to check and verify both.

7. It may take a little bit of more time to complete the additional processes, but in return, I strongly belief I will be benefited in the future.

However, this is my personal opinion. I may be wrong on my reasoning. I am waiting to hear you all. Please keep posting.

I did the same thing as you. I applied MRP 2 months after I submitted my full documents, submitted the new copy to CHC with a cover letter. I think nothing wrong with this, in fact I think Manila Visa office requires a Machine Readable passport already.
As a PR here in Singapore, I got no stamp in my passport similar to my old one, but rather I have a separate printed document stating my re-entry permit here. This might be similar once you are given a Canadian PR since no stamping is required in the MRP.

You came up with Good Reason But Nothing is not yet mandatory for Bangladesh.

I think if there(SPORE) are some ghiringi type people then they may asked u for another Police verification, otherwise they should appreciate MRP and soon they will change their rules to accept only MRP for new BD applicants.
