You can send your passport by any courier service: DHL, Pony Express, etc. It will be additional courier fees for that. To send the passport to the embassy is quite easy, you can choose the cheapest service for that. The trick is to get the passport from the embassy, not all the services would agree to arrive on exact day and time (Wednesday, 9 to 10 am) to pick up the passport. Some people were saying that DHL agree to do that. Anyway, you should contact the courier to check for the details.
PS: Do not forget to attach the letter of request with your passport.
