THANK YOU! By small envelope, just regular old white envelope? I thought I read somewhere you couldn't do that, that the passport also had to be in a 9x12. Thank you for confirming that isn't necessary and also that a barcode isn't necessary on the outside of the mailing envelope or self-addressed (unless I misunderstood.)

here is what the website says..

Please put you passports in an envelope with your file number written prominently on it. Place this envelope in your mailing envelope. Please take great care to reproduce the mailing address above EXACTLY as written.

NOTE: If your address is in the USA, we strongly recommend that you supply a return envelope for your passports using the United States Postal Service’s Express Mail service.

Provide a self addressed, prepaid, flat rate 9" x 12" USPS Express Mail envelope. Make a note of the tracking number. Your passports will usually be returned to you within 15 business days from the day we receive them. This does not include any time it may take for the Post Office to deliver them.

Thank you, I saw that, but they don't explain if you should put your pictures and height/eye color in a seperate envelope, the one with the passport or leave it floating!

I just put the pics in the small white envelope just so they weren't flopping all around and they wouldn't get lost once they opened the large envelope. I put the small envelope, the passport, and the prepaid envelope into a 9x12 mailer.

Thank you so much. Did you write anything on the back of the photos? I just switched my plane tickets from November 7 to November 1 and will be using Express Mail to make sure Buffalo receives my passport before November 10. I hope it all works out, this seems to be a solid option...

I apologize, but I just wanted to ask again about the back of the photos! (The above post)

My husband did not write anything on the back of his pictures and they took them without any problems.

How come you are waiting until January to land?

Perfect, thank you heather. I think that's the last of my loads of passport request questions! I hope so!! I am waiting until January to land because I have a lot of things to finish up before I leave. Saving money (the application wiped me out completely, and both my husband and I are living week-to-week at the moment, so the extra 2 months will be a huge boost), spending time with family/relatives/friends before I go, etc.

I have a question about PPR. In all honesty I haven't read all the threads but I've read some and haven't found what I'm looking for. My husband haven't received his PPR as of yet but if we receive it via mail/ email can we you go directly to the office instead of using mail service.

Thanking you in advance.

ahhh makes sense... this process takes its toll, emotionally, physically and financially... it is so damn hard. I know that I have really enjoyed the time I am back to visit friend and family while I get my husband. I am the sponsor but lived in the US for 12 years and will miss my friends incredibly. But at the same time I will be glad to be back,

I see you are thru Buffalo, you can go to the office.
You can find information here -
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/submit_soumettre.aspx

and there are several threads about people's experience who have gone in, in the Buffalo thread - I would start at the last post and work your way backwards, it's on 120 pages and was only started in May so most people who have gone in person, have done so as of recently, month or so ago.

Thanks Can_USA_97. I will have a look at those threads.
