Passport req.- What does the letter say?

Hi all, me and my wife we completed our medicals on 28/12/2009 in Turkey, our office is Ankara. Now we are awaiting the passport request soon.
We have a little problem though, when we sent full docs to the embassy we used the old (but still valid) passport of my wife which contains her maiden name. I emailed the embassy to ask them whether a surname change was necessary for my wife but I haven't received a reply yet. So I was wondering what the passport request will state, e.g. does it say that they require up-dated passports or are there any other specific requirements stated in the passport req. letter. Will they accept my wife's maiden name on her passport?
Furthermore, I've heard that they want extra photos with the passport req. Is that true? If yes, how many? And do they again ask for the visa office specific photos? I appreciate all replies. Thank you in advance. We are really very excited...

Hi,

You did file your application with the maiden name of your wife and CIC did not ask you to get it changed so far. So, in my openion, as her passport is still valid, don't change it until and unless the visa office ask to chage. You should have done it before submitting the application. Any way after getting your PR, any time you can make a "change of name" in Canada so that after getting the citizenship her Canadian passport will be with surname.

Regarding photos, you need to submit visa specific photos together with your passport. Better you keep ready now at least 4 prints each and can submit what they need.

It's not mentioned in the letter

Lizlin, it is mentionned in the PPR letter. Plz check again. In my case it was 30 days [to submit the passport/s].

Hello Seniors!

I have a similar line question:

My current passport is getting expired in Feb 2011; currently I am in USA and can't renew it before one year in advance so (Feb 2010) is the date when I’ll be eligible to renew my passport here in US.
I have submitted my initial application to CIO in Dec-09 and waiting for their further advice.

My question is when should I apply for the renewal?
1. Get the renewal in Feb-2010 and submit final application to Buffalo with new passport information.
2. Submit final application to Buffalo with old passport info and then apply for the renewal of passport (to ease the process), and update the consulate.
3. In any case I have to get my passport renewed before submitting for final visa stamping.

Will greatly appreciate your help/ advice /views
