I had a soon-to-expire passport and got a new one issued. I removed the entry of old passport and provided details of new one in MyCIC account. Is it right to do or am I suppose to keep both the details?

If the old one is invalid now, remove it.

Yes, the passport office put a stamp on it that it's no more valid. But what I'm concerned is whether CIC and OINP would want the old one's entry in the profile. Just to be sure there were no adverse notes on the passport?

An invalid passport does not need to be included on your EE profile. Your current passport is sufficient.
