Hi guys, please help with a quick question.
We got PPR beginning of Feb 2018 and my daughter's passport was valid only till Dec 2018, so we renewed her passport.

Now, do we just send the new one without any further explanation? Or do I need to explain that the old one was expiring and we renewed? Maybe attach the previous passport copy or something?

Please help.

Also, there's an answer on this thread that may be useful: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...eads/issuing-a-new-passport-after-ppr.490001/

For whomever this might still be interesting,

I called IRCC and talked to an agent about this. He advised to send the copy of the old passport together with a letter of explanation, describing the situation. He also said that I can send the new passport only and it should be fine. But I decided to go with an LOE and previous passport copy.

Let's see how it goes.

Good luck!

Thank you for the information. I'm in a similar situation. I have a few questions regarding this:
1. When you get your COPR paper or VISA, does the information on it ( like passport number) match the new passport or the old one?
2. If the COPR or Visa has the old passport information, will it cause a problem when landing since the old passport is no longer valid?
Thanks!

1. New Passport
2. If you have renewed your Passport after issuing COPR then COPR will have old passport information. There is no issue if you have renewed your passport after COPR and before landing. Just keep both passports while travelling and you are go to go!

Hope this helps!

That's helpful! I don't know if the COPR has been generated or not, I just got PPR and my passport is in renew process(will get it next week). I heard people saying that when receiving PPR email, COPR has already been generated as well.. but sounds like it works either way :)

I believe COPR will generate once you send the passport. I don't think it will be created in advance.

Hi,

Question : After we submit our documents (after we receive the iTA) , we get COPR once approved or they ask for our passport then send COPR?
If it is the second case then i can send the new passport right?

They ask for our Passport then they approved the application and issue the COPR. You need to send new passport but it doesn't harm if you send old an new one.

Hey guys...I have a similar situation..
I am yet to submit my passports to VFS for stamping...while planning to book my tickets with a tentative date 24th May, I noticed that my passport expires on 24th November...exactly 6 months from the date of travel.

Now what should be my ideal approach ahead:

1- I should get my passport renewed right now and then get the stampings done.

2- Submit the passport for stamping and then get it renewed.

3- Prepone my travel day by 1 week and get the passport renewed in Canada.

Hey what did you end up doing? I am sort of in a similar situation and I am leaning towards renewing my passport and sending the new one for stamping.

Hi I am in the same situation, can you please confirm that everything went well and they accepted the new passport along with LOE and previous passport copy.

Hello guys, can anyone reply to this question pls? I have the same situation, not sure if I have to inform ircc again about the change even after getting ppr?
