Passport Renewal after In process status

Please did anyone renew his or her passport due to its expiration after status has changed to In process. I wanted to know as I submitted a copy of my new passport based on CIC request after my application went into processing on the 3rd of April. I just wanted to know how it affects the processing time.

you must have valid passport in the process. I get notice whit my nomination that i need renewal my pas.
