Passport renewal after getting PR visa

Hello,

We got our PR visa in Oct 2011 - visa valid till June 2012.

My husband renewed his Passport this week and got a new one (since his Passport will be expiring in other 8 months).

Wondering, if the visa can be in OLD PP? Can we carry both the new and old PP for travel?

I know we can do that with USA - just wondering about Canada?

Get a new PR visa for your new passport then. I might be wrong, so better check with the visa office who issued your PR visa.

I agree with Steaky. Your husbands old passport is CANCELLED and there is a new passport. As the PR visa's validity is up to June 2012 he has enough time ahead. Better contact the Kaulalampur visa office, if possible personally go with the passports and talk at the enquiry desk.

When I called them first they said I need to fill all applns and take it along with old and new PP and DD and it will take 5 working days.

I called them again now - surprisingly they said I just need to take the Old and New Passport and DD for 30 CAD and they will issue a new visa on new PP the same day. No other application or documents required.

So does this mean that you are going have a new PR visa placed in the new passport? Can you just go to any Citizenship and Immigration office to do this?
