Passport rejected because it's obscured

My husband passport was rejected because it obscured and the expiration date is 9 months.

Now, I have requested that cic send back the passport in order for us to get a new one.

A slight delay of course seeing as you do need a valid passport to land and it takes sometime to receive a new passport after appying.
