Passport re-issue due to baby's passport after ITA but before PR

Hi

We received the ITA on 18th Oct 2017 and had a deadline to submit our application for PR by 17th Jan 2018. We did so by 13th Jan 2018, and at that time my wife was in her 6th month of pregnancy. We have still not received any update on our application status, however the baby is expected to be born by 29th March 2018. As a process, to have our baby included in our PR application; we will need to have the baby's passport made and that requires that either one of the parents have the spouse's name mentioned in his/ her passport.

My wife is the primary applicant and her passport expires on 10 Aug 2020, while I am the dependent applicant with passport expiring on 21st Aug 2023.

Ideally I would like to get the spouse's name added in both our passports, since my wife's passport is close expiry in about 30 months; however that could impact the processing time as the new passport details will have to be communicated to the IRCC as well.

option 1 - I only update my own passport with my wife's name and get the baby's passport made. This way the primary applicant details do not undergo any change and timelines wont get impacted.

option 2 - both the passports are updated with spouse's name and in this case since the primary applicant details are getting updated, the processing time could increase. advantage of doing this is that, we wont have to renew my wife's passport before we become eligible for a citizenship of Canada.

Please suggest.

Thanks

Hi, I had the same situation as you, so what I did I only raised a CSE after the birth of the new born (I also attached a birth certificate).
IRCC replied to my enquiry within one week with the directions (they will give a one month deadline to upload the new born's docs).
It's pretty simple...don't do anything to your wife's passport.

Thanks for the quick response. does CSE imply Case Enquiry? can you share what directions they gave in your case. Specifically, do i get my passport reissued with my wife's name mentioned or should i wait and let the baby arrive and then seek their direction before i do anything?

Thanks a tonne again.

CSE (Case Specific Enquiry).

Directions:
1- Pay the fees for your new born (150,00 Can Dollars), a pdf page with a barcode will be generated when paying the 150,00 dollars ---> You need that as a proof of payment.
2- Update the form IMM0008 and the form IMM5406
3- Birth Certificate of the new born
4- Bio page data of the new born's passport
5- Medical exam

Then you should scan all the docs, merg them in one document and the size of the doc should be less than 5 MB.

Then upload the kit (just after receiving the instructions in your MyCIC they will add a place when you can upload the doc).
One day after they will grant a UCI number for your new born and you will see his/her name in you application as an independent.

All the best!

Hi Again,

I wrote to IRCC as suggested and they provide me the instructions as you said they would.

However, now am stuck with filling the form IMM5406. It is pretty confusing and inspite of a good amount of research, i am unable to get a satisfactory way forward.

They instruct that both applicant and spouse fill in the form separately. now my confusion is as below:

1 - if my wife (who is the primary applicant) fills the form then she would logically fill in the first row of the form meant for the applicant and then my details as spouse in second row and her mother and father details in Section A followed by Section B and Section C, which would be specific to her family.

2 - if i (dependent spouse) fill the form then I would logically fill the second row meant for the spouse followed by the first row to mention the actual applicant and then followed by my mother and father details and then section B & C specific to my family. OR WILL I BECOME THE APPLICANT WHEN I FILL MY FORM AND MY WIFE DETAILS ARE ENTERED AS SPOUSE. THIS WOULD BE MORE LOGICAL.

3 - After step 1 & 2, how would IRCC identify which form belongs to the primary applicant and which one belongs to the dependent as except for the mother/ father details in the two forms the applicant and spouse information would be exactly the same.

please guide. this is urgent as one week has already gone by.

Thanks
