Form CIT 0002 – question 14
Form CIT 0003 – question 8c

Hello,

The above questions ask about some passport attributes, and Place of Issue is among them. The Guide for form CIT 0002 says it is supposed to be a city or town. I received my latest passport through the Consulate of my home country in Canada. They came with a remote service session to my province, I submitted the documents, and later the passport was mailed to my home address in Canada. The passport itself does not have such a field as place of issue.

What city should I put as place of issue in the above questions?

Thank you.

1. Just put where in Canada it was issued.

Sorry, I am not getting. What does "issued" mean?
No one issued it to me. I picked it up in in the post office next to my home.

Place of issue should be the City it was issued from i.e. the city in Canada
Country of issue should be the passport of the country that issued you i.e. your home country

It was issued to you by the consulate of the country of your citizenship in Canada, even though you may have received it in the post office near your house.

So, as others have posted :

Country of Issue : The country of your citizenship which is the country whose passport you currently hold.

Place of issue : Canadian city where the above mentioned passport was issued.

Just to be clear, I have no questions about Country of Issue, only Place of Issue.

So the Consulate is permanently located in Ottawa, but they came with a service session to Vancouver, where I applied. Should I put Ottawa or Vancouver?

I have a similar situation. Should I put the city where the Consulate is permanently located or the city where they came with service session?

This is generally clearly indicated on the bio-page of the passport.

I clearly said in the original message:
The passport itself does not have such a field as place of issue.
This thread has 5 replies and not even a single answer! Just generic words...

Should have gotten a passport from a country that shows Place of Issue. If you cannot figure out where it was issued, the IRCC cannot either! Just put what you think is the best answer.
