Passport expiry senior members help!

So what happens when the passport is about to expire and your are in the later stage of your process, for example CIC requested the passport and only 4 month left for it to expire, do they give a visa for 4 months? or they ask you for new passport or what exactly??

If you know it is going to expire, get it renewed and let CIC know about it.....

yes, they will give u visa for 4 months. visa will never go beyond the validity of passport. it's better to renew it but let cic know if ur running out of time

That is what happened to me. They gave me the immigrant visa which was valid for 5 months, up to the expiry date of my passport. But I was OK with that and I went for landing the day after I got my passport with the visa. I could have renewed my passport, but I thought it may confuse CIC or delay my process, which I am not sure if it would have!
So if you can go for landing with in the time frame of your visa, then no need to renew it now, otherwise renew it ASAP and let CIC know of it.
