Dear All,

I received the request for passport today from the ADVO and the letter states that the passport must be valid for 12 months. My husband's passport is expiring in 11 months and 5 days. Renewing the passport could take more than 30 days. Please advise.

Thank you!

Try appplying in fast track option if there is one offered by your country. Alternatively, write to CIC requesting for an exemption.

Thank you for the reply. What is the fast track option?

I have read in other threads on here that the PR that is issued is valid only until the medical expiry which is March 2018 in our case. My husbands passport is expiring in May 2018. Will they return our passports without the visa if I send his current passport?

As per their email they require a 12 month validity starting from 10th June 2017.

What nationality is your husband ? I am sure every country has a provision to issue a new passport in short duration.

Dear all,

I have received this morning the Passport Request email to submit the passport of myself and my spouse. The email also states that "Passports should be valid for at least six (6) months from the anticipated date of travel to Canada." However, my spouse's passport will expire soon and will certainly not meet the stated requirement. She intends to make a new passport, and we were now wondering if this will be fine since her passport number to be submitted to the VAC will be different compared to that used when applying for the Permanent Residence. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

You should write to the visa office and inform them about the need to renew the passports and simulatneously start your passport application process.

Once you receive new passport, inform ircc via webform and in the same time submit to vac
