Hello all

I need your valuable advice on my case

I have recently applied for Express Entry my application was submitted on 26th October 2015 and same day i have received the acknowledgement. I am FSW inland applicant and the passport is expiring in June couple of months from now.

Should i renew my passport now and update my passport details to CIC or wait until the decision is made? Are we allowed to switch our passport details when the application is in process?

Please help me with the query; I have tried calling CIC but the line is busy forever.

Apply for a new passport. Later update the details with a letter of explanation and the scanned copy of the bio data page of the new passport to CIC through a CSE.

CSE - Case Specific Enquiry is used to communicate with CIC for any extra ordinary situation.

You can use the above link to fill in the details of your profile and upload the scanned copy of your new passport so that the Visa Officer can attach and update the new information in your PR application File.

I want to confirm one thing that regarding CSE I discussed the case with my consultant and as per his versions CSE is for other important information like family details, birth death detail, change of job detail and not for new passport. Secondly this information can be uploaded once only.

Is this the case.

Please guide.

You can wait for a while your application may approved before passport expired. In the meantime, you must renew passport asap, once you received renewed passport You can inform them through CSE along with copy of renewed passport, Bio data page and write the letter of explanation.

Please note that once you received PPR, It is mandatory to have a passport valid for more than 6 months, I would suggest apply new passport as soon as possible.

In my case, when received PPR I sent only renewed passport and copy of old passport( which was expiring in 3 months ) along with LOE. There were no problems and delayed.

You can send scanned copy of your new passport, old passport copy and provide letter of explanation to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca
and along side send case specific inquiry as well.

Keep copy screen-shot of both updates you will be sending just as record keeping.

FYI: I have sent my sent my passport for re-issue as well.
