Hello everyone,

I am a permanent resident in Canad. My parents are going to apply for a TRV to come here and visit me. I was told that their visa will be valid until the expiry date of their passports. But my father's passport will get expired in 1 year. My question is this: if we use his current passport to fill the application forms and apply for the visa, but at the time they ask for the passports to issue the visa, we give them a renewed passport, will the expiry date of the visa be the same as the expiry date of the old passport or the new one?

Thanks,

Hard to say, this falls into the CIC officer taking care of the application:

1) Issue it to the valid date of the new passport
2) Issue it to the valid date of the old passport
3) Refuse it due to sending different documents than the ones used for the application (unlikely but had happened).
