Pre-Assessed..
Hello, My dad has a super visa which was issued for just 2 years at the first point, it expires on Sep 2015, and the passport expires on Oct 2015.
I'm asking my dad to come to Canada probably on May. How can we request for an extension/issuing a new super visa for him? Can he apply from Canada?
Thanks for your helps.

You would need to apply for a new super visa from scratch. Yes - you can do this from Canada.

Really?? :o
you mean doing medical exams and everything?
and how is the possibility of success if there is no change in situations?

Yes - you have to re-do everything.

Chances of success should be high if you were approved for the first one.

Hi Sophia44
I am in the situation where my mom's super visa or multiple entry visa given for 8 yrs now will expire. Sorry I just never understood if hers is a supervisa or an multiple entry visa. But it will expire next June 2018 and her extension will be expired in dec 2017. As of what I have read in this forum she can stay and apply for a new supervisa from scratch within Canada. Where you successful in your application? When should I start her application ?
Thanks

Hi Sophia44

Does the visa say PG-1 or V-1?

PG-1 = Super visa

V-1 = TRV

It says V-1,
If it is V-1 then it is not a super visa. It is a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa).

Your mom has applied to extend her visitor status which will expire in December 2017, whereas the actual validity of her TRV is until June 2018.

The visitor visa enables someone to travel to Canada, whereas the visitor status is what is granted at the POE when her stay is assessed by CBSA, or like her present situation where CIC has allowed an extension to her visitor status. Hope this helps to understand the difference.

Your mom can apply again to extend her visitor status (approx. 30 days before her current visitor status expires). But, do note that if it appears like she is living and not visiting then it could be refused/shorter stay could be allowed.

Ideally, she must return to her home country and remain there for some months before she can attempt to reenter Canada before her TRV expires in June 2018. If her passport is expiring in June 2018 too then she must first renew her passport and travel with both passports.

Alternatively, she must return to her home country..... wait for some months..... before applying for a super visa from scratch. Super visas cannot be applied for from inside Canada

Thanks for your reply. One more qs, if Supervisas can not be applied from within Canada, can she apply for again for a multiple entry visa within Canada?
