Apologies if this has been asked before, but I can’t find this exact scenario on the forums.

When I submitted my AOR, my passport still had 9 months validity. However, the application processing took a lot longer than expected, I am now close to PPR and the passport submitted during AOR expires next week. I already have my new passport so should I attach a scan of the new passport and submit via an email/CSE to my local VO?

I was originally planning to send both old and new passports when the PPR comes through with an explanation letter, but I’m now concerned that they won’t issue the PPR if the passport is no longer valid. But I also don’t want processing of our application extended because I’ve added an additional document.

Any insight anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

I'm in a similar situation, but my passport will expire in November. My plan is to get a new one and submit it to them via the web form. I won't wait for the PPR to do that, since I believe that could be an issue to them.

Hi, I have not submitted my application but I am about to this week. I have the same situation, so may I know how you can submit the new passport details? is there a link where you can upload additional documents after submission and payment?

thanks in advance.

You can raise a CSE online... CSE is case specific enquiry...

Otherwise sometimes what happens is if your passport has less than 6 months validity, they will come back to you by email and message in the CIC portal saying please upload new passport details... But personally I would raise CSE instead of waiting for them to come back to me.

Whatever you choose to do, know this: The visa that they issue will expire with the passport in which it is stamped. They very clearly state that the passport must have atleast 6 months validity from the time of PR applications, and that they cannot issue a visa which is valid beyond the passport expiry. GL
