Passport Expiring with CEC application in progress

Hi!

I'm a Jan 2013 applicant and my Indian Passport expires in April 2014. With the strikes going on, I want to be prepared for the worst delays. Is there any passport validity length requirement for getting the PR stamps if I'm approved? I've read somewhere it has to be valid for at least a year when they ask for medicals.

Also if I do decide to get a new passport now, how does that affect the application in progress? One advantage of renewing my passport is that I can apply for a longer open work permit and not have it expire when my passport expires.

Anyone who's gone through a similar situation / has any input, I'd love to hear about it. Any links to cic with the topic would be awesome too!

If you renew your passport and already got AOR then scan and email a copy of your
new pp to CIC.

Not as far as I am aware but if the passport validity is for 6 months then your visa will be valid for a reasonable period of timeI've read somewhere it has to be valid for at least a year when they ask for medicals.No, not at all....my passport was to expire in Oct and I had recvd my medicals in June.

Also if I do decide to get a new passport now, how does that affect the application in progress? Doesnt affect it at all as long as you advise CIC that your passport has been renewed (after it has been renewed, of course).One advantage of renewing my passport is that I can apply for a longer open work permit and not have it expire when my passport expires.

Any links to cic with the topic would be awesome too!Just send them an email with the attachment of your new passport advising them of the change and, you should be okay. I renewed mine and it was no problem at all. I recvd the medical reqst with the old passport but recvd my COPR with the new passport.
