Passport expiring in 10 months...should I submit online profile?

Hello everyone,

So I have IELTS and ECA ready, online profile is also filled out and ready to submit. My only concern is that my passport expires in next April (10 months from now), and I'm going to renew it in July, probably get a new passport in August...so can I go ahead and submit the profile to enter the candidate pool now? What happens after I get my new passport?

are u CEC or FSW? U will be cutting it close. I believe its safer to renew ur passport first . With this u only have 4 months to get ITA and get ur application approved as they need passport valid for 6 months or more to give u a visa stamp.

Thank you for your reply! I will be FSW. I currently have my Canadian tourist visa...and I'm working on H1-B in the US. So you are saying I cannot apply with my current passport now and later upload my renewed passport? Do I have to wait for my new passport?

no u can apply with old passport but they will ask for a new passport when they stamp visa
so u should renew ASAP. How long does ur passport can be renewed? if less than 3-4 months u can apply with old passport and when approved send them new passport

My current passport expires in April 2018. I will renew it next week and get the new passport in early August since the renewal takes around 20 business days. So I should go ahead and submit my online profile now? And when receive my ITA, I can submit both my current passport and my new passport, maybe with a note to explain the situation. I just don't want them to think I give them the wrong passport information....

Hi, you can apply with current passport and modify your information once you receive a new one. No need to explain anything if you are in express entry however if you would have already received an ITA then you need to submit an explanation in eAPR
