Dear Members need some help and guidance.

- Passport, pages that i sent when Applied for Citizenship application is , EXPIRED.
- Didn't renew it, :(
- now i received the test notice for 10 Oct where it says to bring Current and Expired Traveling Documents.
- if i apply now for Renewal of Passport it will take more than 2 weeks

- What should i do? Does it Mandatory to have Active Current Passport which is not expired? or i should be okay with Expired Passport.

Please let me know with your experiences and knowledge what steps should i take now.

Thanks

Not really sure, but my understanding was that you need to have all the passports that cover the timeframe for your 1095+ days.

And I think you need to have a good explanation why you did not apply for a new one.

Are you keeping your original citizen when becoming a Canadian?

Not a problem at all. My interview was last week and my passport's expiry date was in April 2015! You just tell them that is the last passport you have:)

Thanks shaazdeh, your response have taken down my blood pressure.

So you are saying there will be no problems in showing them expired passport and will they ask WHY not Renewed the Passport?

Thanks

There is no requirement that you have a current passport to apply for citizenship. Take the expired one and tell the official that you have not renewed it. The reason for not renewing is simple: no plans to travel outside Canada.

My wife had the same situation as yours and she passed the exam and got the oath invite with no issue. No worries everything should be fine.

You are stressing for nothing. I promise you! The truth is it is none of her business why you didn't renew your passport! because you didnt want to travel :)))
Believe me even my cousin had her test 6 months ago and her passport was expired for over a year! and nothing happened. Even I heard it is a good sign cause it shows you intend to reside here and you didnt see the need to renew it!

Hello dear members ,
I have a question regarding passport renewal.
What if the passport expired a while before starting the application for citizenship and the applicant (for any reason)didn't renew his passport? does this affects the application and is there any chance of refusing it. Note that this passport is the only one which the applicant have and with which he entered Canada as an Immigrant. Please advise. Thanks
